2025 Emmy Awards nominees have been revealed, and I’m thrilled to share that the TV adaptation of Naughty Dog’s beloved video game series, The Last of Us, has earned quite a few nods!
In this year, The Last of Us was among the most recognized TV series, receiving a total of 16 nominations, slightly less than Season 1’s 24. Pedro Pascal (as Joel) received a nod for Best Actor, despite being in just three episodes out of the season. Bella Ramsey (Ellie) secured a Best Actress nomination, while Kaitlyn Dever (Abby), Catherine O’Hara (Gail), Jeffrey Wright (Isaac), and Joe Pantoliano (Eugene) also earned recognition. The show itself was nominated for the prestigious Best Drama category.
As a gamer, I’d rephrase that as: “A bunch of other categories my favorite series was up for were Best Production Design, Casting, Video Editing, Modern and Prosthetic Makeup, Music Coordination, Nonfiction Short (for its behind-the-scenes doc), Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, and Special Visual Effects.
Although “The Last of Us” did not get nominated for writing or directing awards, there is widespread belief that Isabela Merced was overlooked for her significant portrayal of the character Dina.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve got to say, Apple’s Severance was a real standout this year, racking up an impressive 27 nominations! Not far behind were HBO’s The Penguin with 24 nods and The Studio and The White Lotus, each scoring an impressive 23. Talk about some stiff competition!
In simple terms, the TV show “The Last of Us” is planning a new season, centering around the character Abby. Unfortunately, we don’t have any details about when this third season will be released just yet.
Regarding the game series, an update for The Last of Us Part II Remastered recently introduced a chronological play mode. Moreover, there are whispers that Naughty Dog is not only working on The Last of Us Part III but also on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
