NATO Hires Andrew Stewart as Chief Communications Officer

As a seasoned movie enthusiast and reviewer with decades of experience under my belt, I must admit that the appointment of Andrew Stewart as Chief Communications Officer for the National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO) has left me utterly thrilled!

The organization known as the National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO) has appointed Andrew Stewart to the position of Chief Communications Officer. In this new role, Stewart will be responsible for devising and executing communication and media relations strategies on behalf of NATO.

Stewart, a previous reporter for EbMaster and graduate from both 42West and Imax, is now stationed in Los Angeles under the supervision of Michael O’Leary, NATO’s president and CEO. His role will entail spearheading a communication plan aimed at boosting visibility of exhibitions within the entertainment sector. This encompasses championing the latest $2.2 billion pledge from theater owners to modernize cinemas over the next three years.

Stewart is going to collaborate intimately with the Cinema Foundation to boost cinema hall visits. Additionally, he’ll participate in CinemaCon, the significant yearly convention for the organization, which is known for its focus on movie exhibitions.

Andrew’s determination and strategic skills in adapting to the constantly changing media world left us quite impressed, according to O’Leary. Andrew is crucial for keeping our exhibition involved in discussions about the future of cinema. Moreover, it’s evident that he has a strong affection for going to the movies and aims not just for the success but also the innovation and growth of the movie-going business.

Previously, Stewart functioned as the Vice President at 42West, overseeing their strategic communications department. Prior to this, he held communication roles at Participant and Imax Corporation. While at Participant, he contributed to campaigns for films like “Wonder,” “The Post,” “RBG” and “Green Book.” At Imax, he was part of the team responsible for releases such as “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” “Jurassic World,” and the “Fast and Furious” series. Stewart’s career began as an entertainment journalist at EbMaster, where he covered independent films, theater exhibition, box office, and film distribution.

Speaking for myself, I see narrative-building as the core of communication, and it’s an incredible chance for me to become a part of such a distinguished institution like NATO, to share their tale within the context of the exhibition community. To put it simply, I am thrilled beyond words to dive right in and reveal the next act in this intriguing saga of theatrical exhibitions.
