Nathan Fillion’s latest crime show is a huge success on Netflix, becoming a global hit. He recently appeared as the DC character Guy Gardner in the movie Superman, and will reprise the role in HBO’s Lanterns series, scheduled for 2026. Lanterns is expected to have a similar dark and serious tone to the show True Detective.
Nathan Fillion is already well-known as the lead in a popular crime show, which is quite an accomplishment considering how many crime thrillers are currently successful on television. Shows like Run Away, based on Harlan Coben’s novel, have become huge hits for Netflix, even outperforming Stranger Things. Now, it’s Fillion’s turn to have a crime show find similar success on streaming platforms.
As reported by Deadline, the first episode of The Rookie‘s eighth season had the most views of any premiere in the show’s history. Disney, which owns ABC, measures success by dividing the total hours viewed by the episode’s length. This premiere also ranked among the top five most-watched ABC premieres ever on both Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
