Nate Bargatze to Host CBS Primetime Special Taped at Grand Ole Opry

As a seasoned critic with a knack for comedy and a soft spot for underdog stories, I find myself brimming with anticipation for Nate Bargatze’s primetime television debut. This Nashville native has come a long way from his days as an entry-level employee at the Grand Ole Opry, now returning to grace its stage as the master of ceremonies for this holiday variety special.

Comedian Nate Bargatze is all set to appear on prime-time TV for the first time. He’ll be hosting a festive variety show filled with humor, which will broadcast on CBS during December.

I’m thrilled to share that further details, including the specific air date, will be revealed at a later time. However, here’s what we know so far: this special event will be broadcast on CBS, and for those with a Paramount+ subscription (with or without Showtime), it will be available to stream live and on-demand. If you only have a Paramount+ Essential subscription, you can watch it on-demand the day after its initial airing. Stay tuned for more updates!

On November 21, the special event will be recorded live at the iconic Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. As CBS reports, this special will see Bargatze serving as the host, guiding the audience through a mix of stand-up comedy, pre-recorded humor segments, skits, and musical performances. This event is a significant milestone for Bargatze, as he once held an entry-level position at the Grand Ole Opry early in his career, making it something of a homecoming for him.

As a fervent admirer of the diverse world of entertainment, I can’t contain my enthusiasm as I embark on crafting this unique special. Frankly, it’s a rarity to come across such variety these days! My aim is to produce an exceptional program that families will enjoy watching together, and I couldn’t be more confident with this talented team by my side.

Bargatze is collaborating with Mikey Day and co-head writer Streeter Seidell for a special project. They had worked together before when Bargatze hosted “Saturday Night Live” last season, contributing to the popular “Washington’s Dream” sketch. As of now, the sketch has garnered over 10 million views on YouTube by itself.

Bargatze, together with Lorne Michaels, Erin David, and Andrew Singer from Broadway Video, is overseeing the production of this special. Additionally, Tim Sarkes and Alex Murray from Brillstein Entertainment are also serving as executive producers.
