Nadeshot reveals he needs surgery after being diagnosed with rare eye condition

As a fellow gamer who has spent countless hours watching Nadeshot’s streams and admiring his skills, hearing about his eye condition came as a surprise. It’s heartbreaking to see someone who has brought so much joy to the gaming community struggle with vision issues. However, I respect his resilience in finding solutions and not giving up on his passion for gaming.

Nadeshot disclosed that he needs an operation on his eyes due to recurring vision troubles during his live Valorant streams. He’s been diagnosed with a condition known as Pellucid Marginal Degeneration.

100 Thieves’ founder, who was once a top-tier Call of Duty competitor, continues to stream games frequently on Twitch, primarily focusing on Valorant.

Nevertheless, it’s common knowledge among his channel viewers that he’s been experiencing trouble distinguishing opponents within games. In an attempt to rectify this, he’s upgraded his monitors and tweaked his setup, yet no solution has been found thus far.

If you’ve noticed, I’ve been repeatedly expressing issues with visibility while watching the stream. This issue has led me on a difficult journey of purchasing various OLED monitors, experimenting with 1440p resolution, and positioning my monitor as close to my face as physically possible.

Following discussions with eye specialists, Nadeshot was diagnosed with Pellucid Marginal Degeneration (PMD), a condition characterized by the cornea becoming progressively thinner and protruding at its periphery. This condition is predominantly observed in males between the ages of 20 and 40.

Nade stated in a tweet that the situation is extremely problematic. He needs a treatment called ‘crosslinking’, which involves injecting vitamins into his eye, followed by hardening it using UV light.

Well gentlemen, turns out I need surgery.

“Long story short, I don’t feel crazy anymore, because there is a real reason why I couldn’t see.”

He also explains that he will likely have to wear “hard contacts” for the rest of his life.

At the conclusion of the video, Nadeshot playfully mentioned being “almost completely blind by law,” but it’s important to clarify that PMD (Posterior Microscopic Diabetic Retinopathy) doesn’t cause total blindness. Instead, it can cause blurred vision and if left untreated, the condition may progressively worsen over time, leading to potential vision loss.

In the closing of the video, Nadeshot stated that after undergoing the surgery, he plans to climb up to the highest rank (Radiant) in Valorant. At present, his skill level is Immortal 3, and he aims to reach the top without any assistance from professional players.

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but speculate that he might be gearing up for a brief hiatus from Valorant, with the highly anticipated release of Black Ops 6 looming on October 25. Needless to say, everyone is eagerly waiting for his thoughts on the latest installment in the Call of Duty series.
