Exclusively obtained information indicates that the Apple TV+ comedy “Mythic Quest” has been terminated after four seasons, marking the end of its run. The series concluded with its fourth season finale on March 26, following its initial release in January. Despite being renewed for Seasons 3 and 4 back in 2021, it seems that the show will not continue beyond these seasons.
Just like in classic video game fashion, the series is being given another chance! A fresh finale episode with a brand-new conclusion will debut on Apple TV+ next week.
Concluding a series is challenging, but after an amazing four seasons, ‘Mythic Quest’ will be wrapping up. Series creators Megan Ganz, David Hornsby, and Rob McElhenney are incredibly proud of the show and the world they’ve developed. They express their gratitude to every cast and crew member who contributed so passionately. To our fans, they say thank you for joining us on this adventure. To Apple, their partners from the start, they offer thanks for their faith in the vision since day one. Since endings can be tough, with Apple’s approval, they made a final adjustment to the last episode, allowing them to bid farewell instead of simply ending at game over.
Among the initial original programs to air on Apple TV+ was ‘Mythic Quest’, premiering in February 2020, following the service’s debut in November 2019. Despite Apple not disclosing viewing figures for their shows, the series has been favorably reviewed by critics since its debut. Across four seasons, it maintained a high critical approval rating of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.
This sitcom set in a video game studio focuses on the team behind the hit MMORPG named “Mythic Quest.” Co-creator Rob McElhenney plays Ian Grimm, the game’s creator and creative director, alongside Charlotte Nicdao, Hornsby, Danny Pudi, Ashly Burch, Imani Hakim, Jessie Ennis, and Naomi Ekperigin.
McElhenney, alongside Charlie Day and Ganz, co-created the show. They all served as executive producers. McElhenney and Day did this under their RCG label. Other executive producers included Hornsby, Michael Rotenberg, Nicholas Frenkel (on behalf of 3 Arts), Margaret Boykin, Austin Dill, and Gérard Guillemot (for Ubisoft Film & Television). Lionsgate Television, along with 3 Arts and Ubisoft, were responsible for production.
Not only does “Mythic Quest” air throughout four distinct seasons, but it has additionally released two unique episodes outside of its regular schedule. One of these special episodes was filmed remotely and centered around the show’s characters navigating the challenges of quarantine life. The other episode, titled “Everlight,” depicted the characters rejoicing as they returned to their office workspace.
The initial series led to the launch of “Side Quest” on March 26. This spinoff consisted of four self-contained episodes, delving into the diverse experiences of individuals connected to the “Mythic Quest” game – from creators to enthusiasts.
