As a long-time fan of Capcom and the Marvel vs. Capcom series, I must admit that this news has left me feeling rather conflicted. On one hand, I’m thrilled that we’re getting a physical release for the MvC Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics. The idea of having these legendary games in my collection is a dream come true.
Capcom has unveiled that their eagerly awaited Marvel vs. Capcom (MvC) Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics will soon be available physically on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam. This iconic MvC collection, jam-packed with “seven timeless games in a single Super Heroic compilation,” boasts numerous user-friendly improvements such as “multiplayer online, training mode, a museum section, and additional features.” Now, this collection has some fantastic news for those preferring a physical copy.
Currently, Capcom is set to roll out a physical version of this beloved arcade game, hitting shelves in November. The specifics about the physical release for Nintendo Switch have recently been unveiled by the Japanese publisher. However, it’s important to note that the contents of these physical editions may differ based on region. For instance, players in EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) will receive a box containing a game code instead of a traditional case.
Buckle up and get ready for an exciting journey with the #MvCFightingCollection! This collection brings together 7 iconic games packed with online play, training mode, a museum, and much more. Now available digitally on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Steam in Europe (EMEA). Physical versions are also out now for the Switch (with a code in the box) and PS4 (disc in the box).

Capcom Europe announced via their Twitter account that when the Marvel vs. Capcom: Fighting Collection – Arcade Classics for EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) launches on November 22nd, 2024, the PlayStation 4 version will include a disc in the box, whereas the Nintendo Switch version will contain a game code instead. This difference may cause disappointment among players who prefer physical copies.
It’s been reported by VGC that the physical versions of MvC Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics for the Nintendo Switch will vary depending on where it’s bought. The initial release in North America and Japan will come with a “cartridge in a box,” while the European, Middle Eastern, and African (EMEA) version will include a code inside the box instead.
Although it might be disheartening, players from EMEA who desire a physical copy of MvC Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics at launch have another option to consider, albeit with an added expense. They can pre-order either the NA or Japanese physical edition directly from the game’s official website. However, as hinted, this will mean spending slightly more money and potentially experiencing a longer wait if there are any shipping delays.
