As a seasoned veteran of the strategy RPG genre, with battle-scarred fingers from countless hours spent strategizing and tactically outmaneuvering my opponents, the announcement of Muv-Luv Tactics: Kalidasa’s Nightmare has sent waves of excitement coursing through my veins. The teaser reveal last August left me yearning for more details, and the live stream at Muv-Luv Presents Boarding Bridge 2024 finally quenched that thirst, albeit with a tantalizing taste rather than a satisfying feast.
At the Muv-Luv Presents Boarding Bridge 2024 live stream, ACHOR and Fuzz revealed information about the upcoming game “Muv-Luv Tactics: Kalidasa’s Nightmare“. This new title is a strategy role-playing game that will be playable on personal computers.
Back in August when ANCHOR unveiled their first teaser for that upcoming Strategy RPG, it was all vague and mysterious, leaving us starved for info on game mechanics. But, in this recent stream, they finally gave us a sneak peek into an early build of the game, which is a massive relief for gamers like me who can’t wait to get our hands on it!
It appears that Muv-Lluv Tactics is set to feature a turn-based strategy RPG gameplay where turns are exchanged between players and enemies. Unlike traditional mech-based strategy RPGs, such as SRW, SD Gundam G Generation, or Front Mission, the units on the same side will move together following the player’s completion of moving all their units, rather than individually within a grid system like Super Robot Wars Neo and OE/Operation Extend.
You can find the Japanese stream archive located further down. The part featuring Muv-Luv Tactics starts at approximately 1 hour, 54 minutes, and 57 seconds. However, if you want to watch the actual gameplay footage, it begins around 2 hours, 23 minutes, and 50 seconds.
The Muv-Luv Tactics development team has established a crowdfunding platform on Campfire, exclusive to Japan, though specifics are currently limited due to the campaign commencing from November 16 and ending on December 27. Rewards for backers are tentatively scheduled for delivery in February 2025, implying potential availability of the game around that time as well. Additionally, it was disclosed that the team intends to roll out a standalone Windows PC version initially before making it available on Steam.
