Multiple Spider-Man Variant Projects Secretly In The Works As Amazon Kicks Off New 8-Part Marvel Series

The Spider-Man multiverse is expanding! The creator of the Spider-Noir series has hinted at even more Spider-People coming soon.

The Spider-Noir series draws inspiration from both the Spider-Man version featured in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and the original comic book character. The story centers around a down-on-his-luck private investigator, played by Nicolas Cage, who is forced to face his history as a superhero and consider if he should become one again.

Oren Uziel, a co-showrunner for the new Prime Video series Spider-Noir, told SFX Magazine that several other Spider-Man projects are in the works. These projects seem to be following a similar pattern: placing different versions of Spider-Man in unique and compelling settings to create fresh stories and grow the Spider-Man universe.

Although no projects have been officially announced, rumors are circulating about possible spin-off shows or movies. Some believe we might see a Spider-Punk film starring Daniel Kaluuya, and a Spider-Gwen project is also reportedly being considered. However, it’s important to remember that all of this is just speculation as of now, and nothing has been confirmed.

Spider-Noir is a recent addition to the Spider-Man family, first appearing in his own comic book series, Spider-Man: Noir #1 (by David Hine, Fabrice Sapolsky, and Carmine Di Giandomenico), in 2009. Known as Peter Benjamin Parker, he’s part of Marvel’s Noir universe (Earth-90214) and exists in an alternate reality where he lived in New York City during the Great Depression.

This version of the character has a backstory quite different from the classic Spider-Man. Instead of being bitten by a radioactive spider, Spider-Man Noir investigates a smuggling operation and finds a mysterious spider held within an ancient idol connected to a spider god. The bite triggers a vision of a powerful entity granting him abilities. He then awakens, transformed and cocooned, to discover he’s gained spider-like powers.

Operating in New York City, he transforms into a fearsome crime fighter, driven by a desire for revenge after his uncle Ben was killed. The death of his mentor, Ben Urich, at the hands of Norman Osborn further fuels his crusade. Even after Osborn’s defeat, this Spider-Man, known as Spider-Man Noir, continues his fight for years, ultimately facing dangers connected to Nazi Germany before the U.S. enters World War II.

As a huge Spider-Man fan, I’ve noticed some really interesting takes on Peter Parker lately. It’s cool to see him stray from the classic heroic mold – sometimes, a version of Peter will start out much more rough around the edges, even using deadly force, and then grapple with the consequences of his actions. For example, in the miniseries Spider-Man Noir – The Gwen Stacy Affair (which came out in 2025-2026, by the way, with art by Erik Larsen, Andrea Broccardo, and Marika Cresta), there’s this other Spider-Man who actually gets his powers by taking them from the original!
