As a long-time Magic: The Gathering enthusiast with over two decades of card-slapping under my belt, I must say that these new cards for MTG Duskmourn are truly intriguing!
The upcoming Magic: The Gathering set, Duskmourn: House of Horror, is slated for a worldwide launch on September 27, 2024. Despite being a couple of weeks off, fans of MTG are buzzing with excitement about what the new set will offer. Luckily, some cards from the set have already been unveiled.
Here are some spoilers for the upcoming MTG Duskmourn set.
Monowhite Cards
Here’s a list of all known monowhite cards coming to MTG Duskmourn so far.
Glimmer Seeker
Glimmer Seeker is a three-cost (two generic and one white) creature with Survival – At the beginning of your second main phase, if Glimmer Seeker is tapped, draw a card if you control a Glimmer creature. If you don’t control a Glimmer Creature, create a 1/1 white Glimmer enchantment creature token.
Patched Plaything
The Artifact Creature called “Patched Plaything” costs three resources, two of which are generic and the other is white. This creature has a special ability known as Double Strike. When you summon it from your deck, it comes with two negative counters (-1/-1) on it right away.
Dollmaker’s Shop/Porcelain Gallery
At the Dollmaker’s Shop, you can cast either half with a cost of one generic and one white mana. Once placed on the battlefield, this enchantment functions as a door that is initially locked. You have the option to pay the mana cost associated with a locked door as a sorcery to unlock it. In combat, whenever your non-Toy creatures attack a player, this shop will produce a 1/1 white Toy artifact creature token.
Proclein Gallery is an enchantment spell that costs six mana (four common mana and two white mana). You can cast either half of this spell. Once cast, a door on the battlefield will be unlocked. Additionally, as a sorcery, you have the option to pay the mana cost of a locked door in order to unlock it. Creatures controlled by you will have power and toughness values equal to the number of creatures you control.
Enduring Innocence
“Enduring Innocence is a three-cost (one common and two white) enchantment that behaves like a creature with Lifelink. Whenever another one or more of your creatures, each with power 2 or less, enter the battlefield, you draw a card. This ability activates only once per turn. If Enduring Innocence is destroyed, and if it was a creature at that time, it will return to the battlefield under its original owner’s control. Note that it is not actually a creature itself.”
Fear of Immobility
The enchantment creature named “Fear of Immobility” costs five mana (four common and one white). When it enters the battlefield, you can tap up to one target creature. If your opponent controls that creature, they will put a “stun counter” on it. (If a permanent with a stun counter would become untapped, they would remove one counter from it instead.)
Leyline of Hope
The Leyline of Hope is an enchantment that costs four (two common and two white), which you can place on the battlefield at the start of the game if it’s in your opening hand. Instead of just gaining life as usual, you gain a little more – an additional 1. If you have at least seven extra lives over your starting total, any creatures you control will become stronger with +2/+2 bonuses.
Overlord of the Mistmoors
The Ruler of the Misty Woods is a seven-cost enchantment that transforms into a creature (requiring five generic and two white mana) with a special ability called “Impending 4”. If you choose to cast this as an Impending spell, it will enter with four time counters and won’t be a creature until the last one is removed. At the start of your turn’s end step, one counter will be removed. Whenever the Ruler of the Misty Woods enters the battlefield or attacks, you create two 2/1 flying Insect tokens with white coloration.
Split Up
Split up is a three-cost (one generic and two white) sorcery.
Choose one –
- Destroy all tapped creatures.
- Destroy all untapped creatures.
The Wandering Rescuer
The Vagabond Savior is a powerful creature that costs 5 mana (3 of any type and 2 white), boasting the abilities Flash, Convoke, and Double Strike. Additionally, other creatures you’ve placed on the battlefield and tapped gain protection from being targeted by other spells or abilities.
Toby, Beastie Befriender
Toby, Beastie Befriender is a three-cost (two generic and one white) legendary creature. When Toby, Beastie Befriender enters, create a 4/4 white Beast creature token with “This creature can’t attack or block alone.” As long as you control four or more creature tokens, creature tokens you control have flying.
Unwanted Remake
The card “Unwanted Remake” is an instant that requires just one white mana to use. It eliminates a chosen creature from the game. When this action occurs, the controller of the destroyed creature feels apprehension (or manifests dread). This means they look at the top two cards of their library and place one onto the battlefield as a hidden 2/2 creature, while the other goes into their graveyard. If the revealed card is a creature card, it can be turned face-up anytime, for its specific mana cost.
Veteran Survivor
The creature, Veteran Survivor, is a single-cost (white) card that comes with a survival ability: At the onset of your second main phase, if Veteran Survivor is tapped, you may remove up to one card from any graveyard. If there are at least three cards exiled by Veteran Survivor, it gains +3/+3 and becomes immune to spells and abilities controlled by opponents (cannot be targeted by them).
Monoblue Cards
Here’s a list of all known monoblue cards coming to MTG Duskmourn so far.
Enduring Curiosity
The card “Enduring Curiosity” is an enchantment that costs four mana (two generic and two blue). It has the ability to enter the battlefield immediately, or Flash. When one of your creatures deals combat damage to a player, you draw a card. If this enchantment creature is destroyed, it will return to the battlefield under its owner’s control if it was previously a creature. However, it should be noted that “Enduring Curiosity” itself is not a creature.
Fear of Failed Tests
The card “Fear of Failed Tests” is an enchantment creature that costs 5 (4 common and 1 blue). When this card inflicts combat damage on a player, you will draw the same number of cards.
Fear of Isolation
The enchantment creature named “Fear of Isolation” has the ability to fly, requiring two costs (one common and one blue) to be cast. Additionally, when casting this spell, you must also return a permanent under your control to its original owner’s hand.
Mirror Room/Fractured Realm
The Mirror Room is an enchantment that costs three units (two common and one blue). You can cast either half of it. Once placed on the battlefield, this enchantment functions as a lock for a door. As a sorcery, you have the option to pay the mana cost associated with a locked door in order to unlock it. When you unlock this specific door, a token is generated that replicates a creature you control, but it also has the additional type of “Reflection,” along with any other creature types it may possess.
In simpler terms, Fractured Realm is an enchantment that costs seven mana (five colorless and two blue). You can cast either half of it. Once cast on the battlefield, this spell can be “unlocked” by spending its mana cost as a sorcery. If you have a permanent under your control with a triggered ability, whenever that ability triggers, it will trigger an additional time.
Unwilling Vessel
Unwilling Vessel is a three-cost (two generic and one blue) creature with Vigilance. It also has Eerie – Whenever an enchantment you control enters and whenever you fully unlock a Room, put a possession counter on Unwilling Vessel. When Unwilling Vessel dies, create an X/X blue Spirit creature token with flying, where X is the number of counters on Unwilling Vessel.
Scrabbling Skullcrab
Scrabbling Skullcrab is a one-cost (one blue) creature with Eerie – Whenever an enchantment you control enters and whenever you fully unlock a Room, target player mills two cards. (They put the top two cards of their library into their graveyard.)
Monoblack Cards
Here’s a list of all known monoblack cards coming to MTG Duskmourn so far.
Come Back Wrong
Returning to its description, Come Back Wrong is a three-part (two parts generic and one part black) spell. It eliminates a chosen creature from play. If a creature card ends up in the graveyard through this method, bring it back under your control on the battlefield. However, at the start of your next turn’s end step, you must sacrifice it.
Demonic Counsel
The spell “Demonic Advice” costs you two units, one of which is generic and the other black. It allows you to search through your deck for a Demon card, show it to you, place it in your hand, and then reshuffle your library.
If you have at least four distinct types of cards in your graveyard, you can instead look through your deck and select any card, adding it to your hand, followed by re-shuffling the deck.
Fear of Lost Teeth
As a devoted enthusiast, I’d like to rephrase: “Fear of Lost Teeth” is a unique enchantment creature that carries a single cost. When this fearful entity perishes, it inflicts 1 point of damage on any chosen target and bestows upon me an additional life point.
Doomsday Excruciator
The Doomsday Tormentor is a six-colored (six black) creature that can fly. When this creature is introduced to the game, if it was summoned, each player will exile all but the bottom six cards from their deck, hidden side down. At the start of your turn, you will draw a card.
Enduring Tenacity
A persistently resilient entity, costing four (two common and two dark energy), is an enchantment that functions as a creature. Whenever you acquire life, the opponent specified loses an equal amount of life. When this entity perishes, if it was indeed a creature, it will be reborn on its owner’s battlefield. It’s important to note that, despite its behavior, it is not a creature by nature.
Nowhere To Run
In simpler terms, the enchantment “Nowhere To Run” costs two resources (one common and one dark) and comes with a Flash ability. When it’s played, you can choose an opponent’s creature to temporarily weaken for the rest of the turn (-3/-3). Additionally, creatures belonging to your opponents become vulnerable to spells and abilities as if they didn’t have Hexproof protection. Furthermore, any Ward abilities on those creatures won’t activate.
Valgavoth, Terror Eater
Valgavoth, the Reaper of Terror is a legendary creature that costs nine resources (six common and three black), possessing the abilities Flying, Lifelink, and Ward. By sacrificing three permanents you control that aren’t lands, it can prevent cards from being sent to your opponent’s graveyard by exiling them instead. During your turn, you have the option to play cards that Valgavoth has exiled. If you decide to cast a spell this way, you will pay life equal to its mana value instead of paying its usual cost.
Monored Cards
Here’s a list of all known monored cards coming to MTG Duskmourn so far.
Chainsaw
The Chainsaw artifact equipment costs two units (one common and one rare). When it’s added to the battlefield, it inflicts 3 points of damage onto a single target creature. If any creatures perish, a counter named “rev” is placed on the Chainsaw. The equipped creature gains a boost in power (attack) that corresponds to the number of “rev” counters on the Chainsaw. In other words, the more “rev” counters there are, the stronger the equipped creature becomes, but its defense remains unchanged.
Cursed Recording
The Artifact Known as “Cursed Recording” comes with a price of four resources (two common and two red). Each time you cast an instant or sorcery spell, place a time marker on the Cursed Recording. If there are seven or more markers, take away those markers and the Recording will inflict 20 points of damage upon you.
Whenever you play an instant or sorcery card this turn, you can make a duplicate of it. You have the option to select different targets for the duplicated spell.
Fear of Missing Out
Fear of Missing Out is a two-cost (one generic and one red) enchantment creature. When Fear of Missing Out enters, discard a card, then draw a card.
Delirium – Triggers whenever a bout of Fear of Missing Out occurs for the first time during each of your turns. If you have at least 4 distinct card types in your graveyard, it will cause the target creature to become untapped. Following this phase, there will be an extra combat phase.
Infernal Phantom
The Infernal Phantom is a four-unit creature, requiring three generic and one red mana to summon. It possesses the Eerie ability: whenever a charm you control appears or when you completely unlock a Room, the Infernal Phantom gains +2/+0 strength until the end of that turn. When this spectral being perishes, it inflicts damage on any target equal to its power.
Norin, Swift Survivalist
Norin the Rapid Survivor is a unique, single-cost (one red), non-blockable legendary creature. Whenever one of your creatures gets blocked, you have the option to remove it from the game and later replay it from the exiled zone during the same turn.
Razorkin Needlehead
Razorkin Needlehead is a creature that costs two red cards to play. During your turn, it possesses the First Strike ability. When your opponent draws a card, Razorkin Needlehead inflicts one point of damage upon them.
Screaming Nemesis
Screaming Nemesis is a three-cost (two generic and one red) creature with Haste. Whenever Screaming Nemesis is dealt damage, it deals that much damage to any other target. If a player is dealt damage this way, they can’t gain life for the rest of the game.
Monogreen Cards
Here’s a list of all known monored cards coming to MTG Duskmourn so far.
Hauntwoods Shrieker
Hauntwood’s Shrieker is a creature that costs three resources, with one generic and two green. When this creature attacks, it unleashes a manifestation of dread. This means you look at the top two cards from your library and put one onto the battlefield as a 2/2 creature face down, while the other goes into your graveyard. You can turn the face-down card face up anytime, for its mana cost, if it’s a creature card.
1. Show the hidden permanent card (if it’s a creature card type, you can flip it over)
Overlord of the Hauntwoods
The Ruler of the Hauntwoods is a five-cost (three common and two green) enchantment creature that comes with a delay of 4 – One common, two green (When you cast this spell for its delayed cost, it enters with four time markers on it and doesn’t function as a creature until the last one is removed. At the start of your turn, remove a time marker from it.) When the Ruler of the Hauntwoods enters or attacks, produce an untapped colorless land token named Everywhere that resembles every basic land type.
Twitching Doll
Twitching Doll is a two-cost (one generic and one green) artifact creature.
Tap: Add one mana of any color. Put a nest counter on Twitching Doll.
Transform the Twitching Doll into a 2/2 Green Spider creature token with Reach, and give it this ability for every counter on the doll. This can be done as a one-time sorcery event.
Here’s the conclusion for our current list of Mono-colored Magic: The Gathering Duskmourn cards. Stay tuned, as we’ll share updates on new cards being unveiled in the near future!
