Update (November 22, 1:36 a.m.)
As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I’ve seen the highs and lows of gaming releases, but Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 seems to be pushing the limits of frustration. Having played my fair share of complex simulators, I can appreciate the ambition behind this project, but the current state is a far cry from what was promised.
On yet another day, we receive an update from the creators of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Unfortunately, today’s news isn’t something to celebrate.
Jorg Neumann, leader of the team behind MSFS 2024, shares that as more people join globally, we’re still encountering access and speed problems. We’re diligently addressing these issues with capacity enhancements. To our valued community, thank you for your patience, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We will keep you updated on our progress through various communication channels.
Over time, there seems to be a decrease in the number of individuals using Steam for gaming, but the game’s overall response is gradually getting better, with about 29% of recent reviews being positive at present.
Original news (November 21, 00:29 a.m.)
After facing some initial challenges, the creators behind Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 have encountered additional issues regarding player access to the game. Despite enhancing server capabilities, they acknowledge that the launch of the latest MSFS hasn’t gone as smoothly as planned.
It appears that not every player is encountering issues with MSFS 2024, and surprisingly, it doesn’t seem to be directly related to their internet bandwidth. However, widespread dissatisfaction with MSFS 2024 can be seen across various platforms, as indicated by the reviews on Steam – at present, only 24% of user reviews are positive.
It’s clear that players’ frustration isn’t hard to understand. From the get-go, fans voiced worries about the choice to employ data streaming, but the technical alpha a month ago didn’t suggest the issues we’re facing now.
One primary concern arises: issues with launching the game and loading game elements. Due to server complications, initiating the game can be tricky, and throughout play, the title occasionally fails to load high-definition textures and models, such as planes. Consequently, a game that was anticipated to enhance MSFS’s visuals substantially tends to resemble a game from nearly 30 years ago. Some malicious internet users even liken it to Minecraft (not just a jest).
Not everyone experiences these problems, but some players have been disappointed by the performance issues of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Despite its stunning visuals when functioning properly, prolonged loading times (allegedly over 6 hours as reported online), glitches, and crashes have significantly dampened the gaming experience for fans of the new flight simulator, even two days after its launch.
It seems that the drop in the number of players for MSFS 2024 on Steam might be due to problems with access and gameplay. Keep in mind that data from only two days should be interpreted carefully, given the game’s technical issues and its availability on Game Pass as well. Nevertheless, a noticeable decline is currently evident.
