YouTube personality MrBeast is responding to critics who have criticized him following the construction of a hospital in Ghana, aimed at offering medical assistance to ex-child laborers.
Jimmy, commonly known as ‘MrBeast’, is a renowned YouTube personality who boasts the highest number of subscribers. He’s also a globally recognized influencer, famed for his extravagant video productions and generous cash handouts.
Though it’s well-known that he has substantial financial resources, even after significant setbacks in his grand ventures, he doesn’t keep his money solely for personal use.
In 2021, YouTube personality MrBeast founded his own charity called ‘Beast Philanthropy.’ Since then, this nonprofit organization has taken on numerous charitable initiatives such as opening a food bank to serve local communities, paying for 1,000 people’s cataract surgeries, and providing 20,000 children with their first pair of shoes. These are just a few examples of the many good works that Beast Philanthropy has been involved in.
MrBeast slams backlash over building hospital in Ghana
Recently, this YouTube personality has been determined to address the issue of child slavery in Africa. On April 6, he announced that he had established a medical center offering surgical services, located centrally in Ghana, to cater to the health needs of former child slaves from the country’s fishing industry.
MrBeast collaborated with an altruistic organization called “Ghana Make a Difference,” which offers “shelter, educational opportunities, and medical aid” for children who are victims of slavery, at-risk, or abandoned.
It was discovered that kids enrolled in the GMAD program faced difficulties getting necessary medical care because there were few medical centers nearby and they had to endure excessive waiting periods at the closest ones.
Donaldson found out that children involved in the GMAD program often struggled to obtain proper medical attention due to the scarcity of medical facilities in their vicinity and prolonged wait times at those few available.
In an effort to address this matter, MrBeast financed the building of a surgical facility directly within the GMAD complex, enabling the organization to cater to the medical needs of children from their immediate neighborhood.
Though MrBeast’s YouTube video about the hospital garnered many positive reactions, critics on various social media platforms voiced their disapproval towards his recent philanthropic endeavor.
The top comment under MrBeast’s post suggests, “Why not assist Americans if you’re going to pretend to be virtuous for financial gain?
The YouTube personality promptly responded, pointing out that Beast Philanthropy delivers countless meals to Americans annually.
He stated, “In America, we regularly organize food drives that provide millions of meals free of charge to Americans annually.” He added humorously, “If I were to detail all the initiatives we’ve taken in America, this tweet would become a book. In recent times, MrBeast has engaged in multiple initiatives aimed at aiding American residents. Notably, he’s teamed up with The Phoenix organization to gather resources, specifically for the purpose of assisting individuals battling addiction and facilitating their recovery.
On multiple occasions, MrBeast has encountered criticism regarding his charitable endeavors. Quite often, following the announcement of significant initiatives, he’s been targeted with allegations that he leverages vulnerable individuals for internet fame, rather than discreetly performing acts of kindness away from the spotlight.
MrBeast has embarked on another major venture in Africa, following his initiative to provide complimentary breakfasts in schools over a year’s duration, which aims to combat child slavery across the continent.
