MrBeast’s Airport Meltdown: The Incident That Made Him Loathe Fame

On TopMob’s sensational talk show, Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson shared an experience that left him disliking the label of being YouTube’s most-subscribed content creator. With Amazon Prime’s Beast Games under his belt, hosting a show with a staggering number of contestants and a $10M grand prize, and boasting over 360M subscribers on his main channel, it might seem like fame is all sunshine and roses for MrBeast. However, the reality isn’t always as bright.

MrBeast starred on TopMob’s Clickbaited show to discuss his career, revealing one specific incident at an airport that made him regret his celebrity status.

MrBeast says this incident made him “hate” being famous

Donaldson shared that he had been standing in a long queue at customs for about two hours, as part of his ‘Dollar vs Dollar’ series. In this series, he and his team evaluate luxury hotels, cruises, and other high-end services against their more affordable alternatives.

Currently, the popular YouTuber had gone without sleep for approximately two days straight and had essentially been existing while on planes during the entire filming process.

Despite being tired and preferring anonymity, he couldn’t escape the recognition… however, even in this state, a zealous admirer didn’t hesitate to shout from below, “It’s MrBeast!” drawing attention throughout the terminal.

“Obviously, a bunch of people recognized me, and they’re asking for photos,” he explained.

I’m stuck in a queue that seems endless, with an agonizingly long wait, and folks are darting back and forth along it.

In that situation, I found myself saying, “I despise the limelight.” I inquired of a TSA officer, “Could I possibly move to the front? I apologize if it appears arrogant, but this is quite challenging.

It turned out that the agent wasn’t able to provide MrBeast with preferential treatment. Instead, his assistant stood in line for him, allowing MrBeast to step aside and relax in a secluded area, like a janitor’s closet, away from the crowd of enthusiastic fans clamoring to meet him.

Actually, MrBeast admitted that a fan once trailed him while he was driving. To protect himself from overly enthusiastic followers revealing sensitive personal information (doxxing), he needs to tint his car windows beyond the legal limits.

As chaotic as some situations may get, I, much like MrBeast, always strive to maintain an optimistic outlook. After all, these moments – filled with excitement and wonder – are ones my fans will cherish forever.

I often think about how, to them, I could be the only well-known figure they’ve encountered, if you consider me as such. To them, this encounter might be quite significant and unforgettable. Therefore, it’s important for me to remember and appreciate their excitement.
