MrBeast Set Accident: Worker Claims Life-Threatening Injury Was Preventable

An employee at Beast Games suffered severe injuries on the set that necessitated a comprehensive shoulder reconstruction surgery, and some of his organs had to be eliminated to save his life. He alleges that the set’s hazardous conditions were responsible for his accident.

In an exclusive account shared with Business Insider, a freelancer identified as Sam recounted an incident at the Beast Games production site. He alleged that due to the set not being clearly designated, he unknowingly strolled under a structure being taken apart by another team of workers.

Part of the structure collapsed onto him, causing a deep gash on his shoulder, fracturing multiple bones, injuring his lungs, necessitating the complete removal of his spleen, and requiring extensive shoulder reconstruction. Consequently, he spent eight days in the hospital for treatment.

In conversation with Business Insider, Sam asserted that he was owed compensation due to his injury and attributed it to inadequate safety guidelines on the set.

In the underground part of a tall building with multiple floors, Sam was sorting out cables for a film scene. As he moved, he accidentally ventured into a section that was meant to be closed off with barriers. It’s here that our tale takes an unexpected turn.

According to both Sam and an unnamed supervisor on the filming location, they asserted that there were no signs indicating ongoing construction directly overhead during their work. Contrastingly, a different source who communicated with Business Insider stated that there was a designated path which the individual should have adhered to.

Sam mentioned that neither he nor the supervisor we talked about noticed any pylons, fenced-off sections, or anyone warning them about moving walls while they were walking the path where Sam got hurt, prior to the incident.

The supervisor described the incident as he recalled, “I witnessed it falling. Instantly, I realized this was a turning point – one of those instances when events significantly shift,” as he spoke about his employee getting hurt.

“Accidents on sets happen, but this one seemed preventable,” Sam told BI.

Consequently, the manufacturing process halted on September 11, 2024, due to an incident, with Canadian authorities conducting an inquiry at the site. This information is supported by a report from CBC. At this moment, the comprehensive investigation into how Sam sustained injuries is ongoing.

Additionally, Sam stated that while a producer was visiting him at the hospital following an accident, he received $1000 worth of Uber and DoorDash gift cards, which left him feeling disappointed. However, an employee from Beast Games asserted that this particular employee had specifically requested these gift cards and was given other forms of compensation instead.

As a gamer putting this into my own words, let me explain it like this: I got money from the Canadian Workplace Safety and Insurance Board too, but accepting that cash makes it tricky for me to go after Beast Games’ producers for more compensation directly.

Sam clarified to Business Insider that he’s currently unable to utilize his left arm as effectively as before. Right now, he can barely lift about 2 pounds with it. He’s undergoing physical therapy in hopes of restoring full functionality. Additionally, due to the loss of his spleen, his immune system is compromised.

Furthermore, while Sam didn’t specifically accuse MrBeast of being responsible for the event, he urged the YouTube star to handle it personally instead.

Despite facing several controversies, it’s worth noting that Beast Games has achieved significant success. In fact, MrBeast is actively working on funding for his upcoming project following this achievement.
