Jimmy Donaldson, known as MrBeast, shared that the filming of Beast Games Season 2 was significantly delayed by a storm, leading to substantial extra expenses.
Recently, many popular YouTubers have tried to transition to traditional television. While a few have found success, none have achieved the same impact as MrBeast and his show, Beast Games.
Similar to the hit show Squid Game, this new series attracted 50 million viewers on Amazon Prime Video in its first month. Because of its popularity, Amazon quickly renewed it for a second season.
The second season of Beast Games proved popular, continuing the theme of mental and physical challenges and bringing back familiar faces from the first season. Unfortunately, production faced a significant and expensive setback even before cameras started rolling.
MrBeast reveals delay cost for Beast Games
Jon Youshaei, a YouTuber who worked with MrBeast for six weeks, shared some footage from the early stages of filming. The shoot was briefly delayed by a storm in Las Vegas.
According to Donaldson, the storm damaged much of the equipment and caused significant delays, forcing them to work right up until the deadline.
Each day of delay cost us around $1 million in extra plane rental fees, since we had to charter so many planes to transport equipment. We also incurred about $500,000 in crew costs, and it all added up. That storm was really severe.

According to Youshaei, the storm caused a five-hour delay, forcing them to start one filming session after midnight. They originally planned to spend five hours filming a particular game, but now only have about two hours to do it.
Beast Games season two was eventually won by Player 167 (Tyler), who went home with $5 million.
