This year, the Motion Picture Association will be attending SXSW to conduct workshops focused on international filming, combating digital piracy, and discussing the upcoming trends in movie-making. They will be joined by Charles Rivkin, the head of MPA, as well as Jennifer Salke and Courtenay Valenti from Amazon MGM for a discussion on the future of film production.

Starting from March 7th in Austin, Texas, the Motion Picture Association (MPA) will be presenting a discussion titled “Location, Location, Location: A Filmmaker’s Practical Guide to On-set Production.” This event will showcase:
- Bryan Abrams, editor-in-chief of The Credits, MPA
- Adriana Cruz, executive director of the Texas Economic Development and Tourism Office
- Paul Jensen, producer at Lucky Number 8 Productions
- Steve Joyner, production designer
Rivkin has a scheduled meeting on March 7 with Salke, who leads Amazon MGM Studios, and Valenti, in charge of film, streaming, and theatrical for Amazon MGM. The third event, a panel discussion about countering digital piracy, is slated for March 9. This panel will have industry experts participating in it. The scheduled participants include:
- Ronan Corrigan, director and filmmaker
- Peter Kidd, senior corporate counsel, global content protection at Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios
- Larissa Knapp, executive vice president and chief content protection officer at MPA
- MacKenzie Sigalos, business and technology correspondent at MSNBC
For the very first time since 2014, the MPA will be participating in SXSW, and this year’s event takes place from March 7th to the 15th.
