Most MW2 attachments serve no purpose in MW3, fans say

As a dedicated gamer who’s been through countless CoD titles since the early days of Modern Warfare, it’s disheartening to see the carry-forward of MW2 guns and attachments in MW3. It feels like I’ve stepped into a time machine, but instead of progressing, we’re regressing.

In the unveiling of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, it was disclosed that the game would retain all the weapons and accessories from its predecessor (Modern Warfare 2). Interestingly, Warzone featured firearms from multiple Call of Duty titles concurrently, but MW3’s multiplayer integration marked the initial instance of such an arrangement. Regrettably, it appears that the attachments and weapons from Modern Warfare 2 may be unnecessary in Modern Warfare 3 now.

In the game, not just a lengthy inventory of weapons is available but an expansive collection of attachments as well, many of which rarely get utilized by players. User RainOfJustice recently shared a meme on Reddit (refer to it above), highlighting how effective most Modern Warfare 3 attachments are compared to their less potent Modern Warfare 2 counterparts, based on the statistics.

Chryonicc expressed frustration that the developers included Modern Warfare 2 weapons in the game but failed to address related issues, which he finds very disappointing. However, the intention behind this move was to assure players that their investment in cosmetic skins from MW2 would still be useful in the new game. Regrettably, it seems the developers did not strive for balance by making the older guns more powerful, a decision that didn’t pan out as expected.

Another Redditor calls the carry forward useless, and I can’t agree more. Because of this transfer of assets from MW2, MW3 is now cluttered with too many weapon and attachment options. The availability of guns from various games works well for Warzone Battle Royale, but it’s not necessary for CoD Multiplayer.

As a devoted fan, I’ve noticed that certain attachments like muzzles, foregrips, and lasers are common across the weapons in Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) and Modern Warfare 2 (MW2). This shared inventory gives us a vast array of customization options from both games. However, when it comes to actually using them effectively, I’d recommend focusing on the newer attachments from MW3. For example, the Quartermaster Suppressor is an excellent choice in Warzone due to its minimal drawbacks. Conversely, suppressors like Echoless-80 and Harbinger D20 from MW2 might not be your best bet because they come with a long list of disadvantages, making them less than ideal for gameplay.
