This year in June, the closed beta trials for Chrono Oddyssey, an intriguing MMORPG game with a South Korean origin, will commence. Its gameplay is primarily centered around time travel and caters to both combat-focused players and crafting enthusiasts. The developers have recently shared insights about the game’s features in an interview.
- The title will take us to the world of Seter facing destruction, where the past clashes with the future. The atmosphere is supposed to evoke cosmic horror.
- Time, which players will be able to manipulate, will play a big role. Understanding the past or glimpses of the future can be useful for solving puzzles or finding new paths. The title shouldn’t limit the way people can explore the story.
- In Chrono Oddyssey, exploration and survival elements are supposed to be as important as combat. According to the devs, players will be able to reach the maximum character level through various non-combat activities, including exploration, fishing, or crafting items.
- The combat is supposed to be based on switching between different weapons, and thus the skills and tactics associated with them. Thanks to the change of styles, players will feel less interruptions in using abilities. In battle, having the right strategy is more important than statistics.
- The creators are focusing on challenges for smaller teams of up to 5 people to encourage collaboration and building relationships with other players. Professions are to be designed in such a way that challenges can also be done solo, which will be facilitated by hybrid classes (including hunter or assassin).
- Future expansions with new regions and story chapters are supposed to appear naturally, based on the actions of the players, not on the imposed plan of the developers.
The upcoming game titled “Chrono Oddyssey” is planned for launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X. At this moment, we are still waiting for the formal announcement of its release date.
