Moses Babatope Launches Nile Media Entertainment Group, Sets Female-Led Executive Team (EXCLUSIVE)

As a devoted fan of African cinema, I am absolutely thrilled about the recent announcement of Nile Media Entertainment Group, led by Nigerian film industry titan Moses Babatope. With over two decades of experience in bringing African films to global audiences through his previous roles at FilmHouse Group and FilmOne Entertainment, Babatope is now taking things to the next level with this new production and distribution studio.

Moses Babatope, a long-standing figure in the Nigerian film industry, has introduced Nile Media Entertainment Group – a fresh production and distribution company designed to revolutionize African cinema.

The firm, called after the legendary River Nile, prioritizes cultural authenticity, top-notch performance in its industry, and eco-friendly operations. As a co-founder of FilmHouse Group and managing director of FilmOne Entertainment, Babatope played a pivotal role in making African films accessible to global viewers.

Five entities make up The Nile Group: Nile Entertainment, which distributes local and international content; Nile Cinemas, providing high-end cinema experiences; Nile Motion Pictures, producing Nollywood films as a subsidiary; Nile Studio Lab, featuring a film village in Nigeria; and Nile Foundation, dedicated to community development through cinematic initiatives.

I am truly impressed by Babatope’s commitment to gender equality and his selection of Biola Sokenu as the executive director and group COO for Nile Group. With over twenty years of experience in financial controlling and production accounting, Biola brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table.

Lolu Desalu brings on board eighteen years of expertise in business strategy, brand development, and forming strategic alliances, having worked for various companies including NPower, Incisive Media, TimeInc. London, and most recently holding the position of Chief Marketing Officer at Filmhouse Group.

In her new position as Vice President of Production, Abimbola Roli Craig brings her legal background and experience as a filmmaker to the table. Previously, she oversaw production at NdaniTV and collaborated on successful shows like “Sugar Rush” and “Real Housewives of Lagos.” Craig’s Netflix production, “Glamour Girls,” made history by reaching the global top 10 list, marking a significant achievement for Nigerian cinema.

Bukky George Taylor has been appointed as the Vice President of Nile X, the high-end cinema division. With a rich background of 17 years in strategic communications, Taylor founded Robert Taylor Media and was also one of the co-founders of Crawl Africa, which marked the beginning of the first tourism application on the African continent.

I, Alexis C.I Segun-Ojo, join the esteemed Nile Entertainment team as the General Manager of Distribution and Marketing. With a rich background of over 13 years in public relations and brand strategy under my belt, I have had the privilege of shaping and bringing to life the strategic vision for my previous company. My tenure at that organization saw us become West Africa’s most successful cinema marketing team, as we executed high-profile campaigns for both local and international films.

“Our vision for Nile Media Entertainment Group is to be the beacon of African storytelling, illuminating hearts and minds across the globe with captivating films that celebrate diversity, inspire empathy, normalise industry excellence and foster cultural exchange. We are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of storytelling, both in front of and behind the camera,” Babatope said. “Through our commitment to creativity, sustainability, and inclusivity, we aim to create films that entertain, enlighten, and empower audiences of all backgrounds. By championing diverse voices and perspectives, we seek to build bridges, spark dialogue and cultivate a more compassionate and connected world.”

Having spent over two decades in the industry, Babatope has been involved in creating and overseeing production for over forty Nollywood films. Previously, he managed to strike partnerships with Disney, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Warner Brothers via FilmOne Entertainment.
