Mortal Kombat 2 Trailer Will Premiere This Week

Just a day away now! Yesterday, Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema unveiled some intentionally humorous posters featuring Johnny Cage as part of the promotion for the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 movie, which is the sequel to the 2021 reboot. Tomorrow morning, we’ll finally get to see the first trailer for Mortal Kombat 2!

The Warner Bros. YouTube channel is counting down to the premiere of the Mortal Kombat 2 trailer on Thursday, July 17 at 8:05 AM Pacific Time (which is equivalent to 11:05 AM Eastern Time). Notable new cast members include Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, and Tati Gabrielle as Jade.

In the initial film, a fresh character named Cole Young (played by Lewis Tan) emerged as the primary focus of the story. Tan is set to reappear in the upcoming sequel, though it’s yet to be determined if Cole will again take on the leading role. Notably, some familiar faces are coming back too: Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Mehcad Brooks as Jackson “Jax” Briggs, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, and Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion.

In contrast to their seemingly fatal fates in the initial film, characters Josh Lawson (Kano) and Max Huang (Kung Lao) will reprise their roles. Damon Herriman, known for voicing Kabal previously, is set to play Quan Chi, while Joe Taslim’s character, Sub-Zero/Bi-Han, will be depicted as Noob Saibot in the upcoming movie.

On October 24, 2025, Mortal Kombat 2 will premiere in cinemas. However, devotees of the original series, which seem to have inspired the film, can look forward to playing Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection by the end of this year. This “collection” will feature the first four Mortal Kombat games, including their console and handheld versions.
