Officially confirmed: Noob Saibot has joined the roster of Mortal Kombat 2, and the initial trailer hints at a fierce, grand conflict involving this character and his former ally-turned-adversary, Scorpion.
In simpler terms, the 2021 Mortal Kombat movie had its flaws. The editing was uneven, some computer-generated imagery was less than stellar, the main character Cole Young (played by Lewis Tan) wasn’t particularly engaging, and what made it even worse was that the actual tournament named Mortal Kombat was missing from the storyline.
The lessons from the previous installment have been taken into account so much that Ed Boon, one of the creators, who stepped back earlier, is now actively endorsing the sequel movie.
On this occasion, a larger group of combatants will engage in a genuine Mortal Kombat competition. Thus, be prepared for fatalities, severe attacks, and an abundance of blood (accompanied by some witty remarks courtesy of Johnny Cage, portrayed by Karl Urban).
Mortal Kombat 2 trailer has Noob Saibot (and plenty of blood)
As a gaming enthusiast, let me share my excitement about the latest scoop from the Mortal Kombat universe! In the first-person perspective, it feels like a breath of fresh air to learn that the sequel is shifting its focus away from Cole and onto none other than Johnny Cage. This time around, he’s being called into action by Lord Raiden (Tadanobu Asano) and Sonya Blade (Jessica McNamee). The Mortal Kombat 2 trailer leaves fans like me eagerly anticipating the adventures that await our favorite martial arts legend!
Additionally, Hiroyuki Sanada returns as Scorpion, and it seems he’s once again trapped in the Netherrealm. He’s set for a rematch against Bi-Han, known as Sub-Zero (portrayed by Joe Taslim). However, this time around, he’ll be appearing as Noob Saibot, a character you can catch a glimpse of at the 1:58 mark.

For those new to MK lore, Bi-Han/Sub-Zero is avenged by Scorpion following an earlier death. Much like Scorpion, he then travels to the realm of the Netherworld – but unlike before, Quan Chi (portrayed by Damon Herriman in the sequel) revives him as Noob Saibot instead.
During a previous chat with UNILAD, it was evident that Taslim expressed great interest in the “Noob” storyline. He shared, “I’m excited to witness that ghostly figure shattering someone from within.
I’m hoping this first film will provide the momentum for Warner Bros. and New Line to carry on exploring the universe, with the Phantom causing internal turmoil in future stories. Let’s keep our fingers crossed… here’s to wishing for its success!
It seems like fortune is on his side, but take note that in the preview, Scorpion divides his ghostly form in two. Therefore, prepare yourself for a challenging battle ahead.
