More The Batman spinoffs are in development and everyone’s saying the same thing

Due to the efforts of The Penguin’s showrunner, Lauren LeFranc, it has been revealed that additional spin-offs from this year’s film The Batman are being developed. Yet, this information might not align with what fans are hoping for.

Three years past, RPatz first appeared as Bruce Wayne, exposing a network of corruption following the violent death of Gotham’s Mayor. It garnered more than $700 million at the box office upon its initial screening, but it seems we haven’t spotted Mickey 17’s star donning the black cape since then.

Without it, The Penguin moved to HBO, and while another season appeared doubtful, that’s changed… until recently. Not only has the discussion about a possible second series resumed, but it’s been made official that additional spinoffs are also in the early stages of planning, as confirmed by LeFranc.

It’s uncertain who might star in these upcoming DC spinoffs, but if the showrunners take fan opinions into account, they may not be keen on anything entirely new.

Never mind The Batman spinoffs – where is The Batman 2?

Excited chatter about potential spin-offs and The Penguin’s second season is gaining momentum, leading many of us fans to eagerly advocate for a speedier production of The Batman 2, which has been long overdue.

In case you’ve been unaware that a second installment was planned, the scheduled release date for this sequel is October 1, 2027. It was initially revealed as part of the revamped DC universe spearheaded by James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Initially planned for a 2025 premiere, The Batman 2 faced delays due to writers’ and actors’ strikes, pushing its release back by a year each time, eventually settling on 2027. Director Matt Reeves is currently collaborating on the script with Mattson Tomlin, and has also signed a contract with DC Studios for broader work within the “Batverse.” This is where our hinted spinoffs could originate.

One fan responded excitedly to the news about X/Twitter, saying, “Could we possibly have The Batman 2 up front, buddy?” Another fan echoed the sentiment, “I’d be grateful if we could get The Batman 2 straight away.

“Aside from The Batman Part 2, everything seems to be moving forward,” a third commented, while a fourth expressed anticipation, “I’m still eagerly awaiting the release of my most anticipated Batman sequel: The Batman 2.”

Despite rumors suggesting that The Batman Part 2 might not materialize at all, there’s a glimmer of hope amidst the uncertainty. Matt Reeves was expected to complete the script for The Batman Part 2 by Memorial Day, and James Gunn mentioned receiving encouraging tidbits earlier, which allegedly included parts of the same script. It’s believed that filming will commence as early as 2026.

In the meantime, it appears that Joker, Riddler, and Catwoman are strong contenders for their own standalone series. Regarding The Penguin Season 2, LeFranc suggested that if there’s a compelling story beyond what we’ve seen with Colin Farrell, they may proceed.
