‘Monster’ Season 3 to Star Charlie Hunnam as Ed Gein

As a seasoned cinephile with a soft spot for gripping anthology series and haunting portrayals of real-life serial killers, I can hardly contain my excitement about Charlie Hunnam joining “Monster” Season 3 on Netflix as the notorious Ed Gein. With his versatile acting skills showcased in the FX’s “Sons of Anarchy,” Apple’s “Shantaram,” and other captivating roles, I have no doubt that he will bring a chilling authenticity to this iconic character.

Charlie Hunnam will star in “Monster” Season 3 at Netflix as notorious serial killer Ed Gein.

At a special event in Los Angeles to publicize “Monster” Season 2, its co-creator Ryan Murphy revealed the news. This new season will delve into the story of the Menendez brothers and their parents’ murder, following the first season which explored the tale of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer from the anthology series.

In the 1950s, I, a fellow Wisconsin native like Dahmer, found myself ensnared in an unspeakable horror. Authorities uncovered my gruesome secret – not only had I taken the lives of numerous individuals, but I had also desecrated a nearby cemetery by exhuming bodies and repurposing their remains into everyday objects and clothing. My chilling tale would later inspire iconic pop culture figures such as Norman Bates from “Psycho” and Buffalo Bill from “Silence of the Lambs.

Most recently, Hunnam has secured a new TV role on “Criminal,” scheduled to air on Amazon. This was revealed in May. He is widely recognized for his portrayal of Jackson “Jax” Teller in the FX series “Sons of Anarchy,” spanning seven seasons. Lately, he starred in the Apple adaptation of “Shantaram.” Previous TV appearances include “Undeclared” and “Queer as Folk.” In films, Hunnam is known for his roles in “Pacific Rim,” “The Gentlemen,” “True History of the Kelly Gang,” “Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire,” “The Lost City of Z,” among others.

He is repped by Brillstein Entertainment Partners, CAA, and Sloan Offer.

The series titled “Monster” premiered on Netflix in 2022. Its inaugural season garnered significant praise, with standout performances from Evan Peters portraying Dahmer and Niecey Nash as Glenda Cleveland being particularly noted. Notably, Peters won a Golden Globe for his role, while Nash took home an Emmy.
