‘Monster’ Season 3 Casts Laurie Metcalf as Ed Gein’s Mother, Tom Hollander as Alfred Hitchcock and Olivia Williams as Alma Reville (EXCLUSIVE)

As a devoted fan of exceptional acting and captivating storytelling, I am absolutely thrilled by the addition of Laurie Metcalf, Tom Hollander, and Olivia Williams to the cast of “Monster” Season 3. The trio brings an impressive wealth of experience and talent that is sure to elevate this already outstanding series to new heights.

It’s been confirmed that “Monster” Season 3 will welcome actresses Laurie Metcalf, Olivia Williams, and Tom Hollander into their acting ensemble, according to our exclusive information, EbMaster reports.

The three-piece ensemble is set to collaborate with previously announced cast member Charlie Hunnam for the upcoming season of Netflix’s anthology series. Sources reveal that Metcalf portrays Ed Gein’s mother, Augusta, while Hollander takes on the role of Alfred Hitchcock and Williams plays Alma Reville, Hitchcock’s spouse.

Since Ed Gein’s life story served as a significant inspiration for the character Norman Bates in Alfred Hitchcock’s movie “Psycho” and the book it was adapted from, it seems that Season 3 of the popular Netflix series will explore how Gein’s criminal actions impacted both the film and the novel.

In the 1950s, Ed Gein gained notoriety due to the gruesome discovery that he had murdered numerous individuals, and furthermore, excavated graves from a nearby cemetery to craft various everyday objects and garments from their remains at his home.

In a new collaboration, Metcalf and Williams will team up for the first time with Ryan Murphy, who is also known as the co-creator of “Monster.” Notably, Hollander has already worked with Murphy on the second season of “Feud,” where they brought Truman Capote to life in the series’ anthology format that premiered in January 2024.

As a passionate cinephile, I can’t help but admire the extraordinary talent that Laurie Metcalf possesses. She is an actress revered in her era, with numerous accolades to her name across television, film, and theater. With a staggering 12 Emmy nominations under her belt, she has managed to secure four wins, including one for Best Guest Actress in a Comedy for “Hacks” and three consecutive victories for the original run of “Roseanne.” Her exceptional performances have also been recognized in shows like “The Big Bang Theory,” “Getting On,” and “Desperate Housewives.

Hollander was nominated for an Emmy for his contribution to “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans.” Beyond television, he has been involved with shows such as “The White Lotus,” “Rev,” “Taboo,” and “The Night Manager.” In the film industry, his work can be seen in projects like “Gosford Park,” the 2005 adaptation of “Pride & Prejudice,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” and the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series. He has also received nominations for both a Tony and an Olivier Award for his role in the play “Travesties.

Most recently, Williams has been seen playing Camilla Parker Bowles in Seasons 5 and 6 of “The Crown” on Netflix. She is further set to appear in the upcoming Max series, “Dune: Prophecy,” a prequel to the “Dune” movies. Some of her other notable television appearances include roles in “Manhattan,” “Counterpart,” “Dollhouse,” and “The Nevers.” Williams is renowned for her work in films such as “Rushmore,” “The Sixth Sense,” “Hanna” (co-starring Hollander), “An Education,” and “Hyde Park on Hudson.

I’m a fan who notices that Metcalf, Hollander, and Williams are all represented by the prestigious Creative Artists Agency (CAA). Additionally, Hollander is also represented by United Agents and Anonymous Content, while Williams has Independent Talent Group and Schreck Rose joining CAA in managing their careers.

Originally premiering on Netflix in 2022, the show titled “Monster” garnered significant praise for its first season, with standout performances from Evan Peters as Dahmer and Niecey Nash as Glenda Cleveland. Peters was awarded a Golden Globe for his role, while Nash took home an Emmy. As of now, it ranks as the third most-viewed season of English language TV on Netflix ever. In 2022, Netflix announced that they would be producing both a second and third season of the series. The second season, which delves into the story of Lyle and Erik Menendez and their parents’ murder, was released on September 19.
