Monster Hunter Wilds trailer reveals Lala Barina, new settlement, and more

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of hunting under my belt, I can confidently say that Monster Hunter Wilds is shaping up to be the most exhilarating installment yet! From the towering Lala Barina to the electrifying apex predator, it’s clear that Capcom has outdone themselves with this lineup of fearsome creatures.

Excitement around Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wilds, the newest addition to the widely popular series, remains at an all-time high. During Gamescom 2024, producer Ryozo Tsujimoto unveiled a fresh trailer for the upcoming sequel. Although a specific launch date is still undetermined, the new trailer offered ample visuals to analyze, such as new monsters, intense gameplay sequences, and a sneak peek at the main hub city.

The trailer begins by offering a close-up view of one of the game’s main monsters, a formidable spider creature named Lala Barina. This monster could potentially challenge Rakna-Kadaki, another spider from Monster Hunter: Rise, for dominance, as our group of hunters finds themselves trapped within the Scarlet Forest, a massive web of terrifying size woven by Lala Barina.

Playing the game showcases the workings of several Lala Barina attacks, among them one that transforms her abdomen into an unexpectedly lovely red bloom. Needless to say, maintaining a safe distance is advisable. Additionally, it’s noticeable that she engages with another fierce monster during combat, a feature often found in Monster Hunter games of the past.

In addition, you’ll have a direct view of the primary hub where all your hunting essentials are located, similar to past games. Here, players can create new armor and weapons, enjoy meals that enhance stats, trade items, and much more. Furthermore, we catch another glimpse of the flying creatures known as Seikrets, which you’ll be able to ride this time.

The trailer hints at additional monsters you’ll encounter during your journey, including a winged beast adorned with lightning, referred to as the area’s top predator by the troupe. You’ll see more gameplay of a fierce fight against this creature, demonstrating its frequent use of powerful lightning attacks. Essentially, combat with this foe – whether from a distance or up close – promises to be exhilarating.

Additionally, we occasionally spot Palicos setting up tents in an open area, presumably for players’ use, like resting or organizing their equipment. Later, we witness various monsters exploring the deserts and canyon wastelands – areas where we’ll probably spend a good deal of our time. Rest assured, there will be numerous exciting new gear sets with a monster theme that we can experiment with.
