Monster Hunter Wilds Surpasses 8 Million Units Sold in 3 Days and Is the Fastest Capcom Game to Do So

In a mere three-day span, Monster Hunter Rise has sold over eight million copies, breaking records as the quickest Capcom title to achieve such sales success.

According to reports from Capcom, Monster Hunter Riders has had an exceptionally robust debut, surpassing the five million units sold of Monster Hunter World in 2018 and the four million units of Monster Hunter Rise in 2021. In simpler terms, this game has performed extraordinarily well during its launch, outperforming the sales of both 2018’s Monster Hunter World and 2021’s Monster Hunter Rise within their respective years.

It’s not unexpected that these figures are so high, given Monster Hunter Wilds surpassed a million players simultaneously on Steam during its debut weekend and dethroned Cyberpunk 2077 to rank as the seventh most-played game of all time. Moreover, this surge in popularity pushed Steam over the threshold of 40 million concurrent players for the first time.

In our Monster Hunter Wilds review, we noted that it continues to refine the more rugged aspects of the franchise intelligently, resulting in exciting battles, although it may seem less demanding compared to previous installments.

As for the Monster Hunter series, it was reported by Capcom that this game franchise, initially launched on PlayStation 2 in 2004, surpassed a total of 108 million copies sold worldwide by the end of December 24th, 2024.
