Learn all about the Photo Mode in Monster Hunter World, discovering how to activate it, exploring its unique characteristics, and uncovering further details.

For years now, fans of Monster Hunter have been eagerly requesting a dedicated Photo Mode since the launch of Monster Hunter World. Although some creative mods were developed on PC to incorporate “free-cam” and Photo Mode, Capcom didn’t officially include it in the game. In Monster Hunter Rise, Capcom introduced a Photo Mode to the series, albeit with numerous limitations; for instance, you can’t pause the game while using it, which somewhat diminishes its purpose. However, with Monster Hunter Wilds, Capcom has finally rolled out a fully operational Photo Mode that can even be utilized during combat, pausing the action when needed.

In Monster Hunter Wilds, just like many other mechanics in the series, the Photo Mode might take some getting used to. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to navigate and make the most of the Photo Mode in this game.

This way, the text is simpler and easier to understand for a wider audience while still conveying the same information as the original sentence.

How To Access the Photo Mode in Monster Hunter Wilds

In Monster Hunter Wilds, you can enter the Photo Mode from the main menu. Look for the “Photo Mode” option under the “Systems” tab. Once you’ve chosen Photo Mode, it will initially place you in first-person view, but you can quickly switch to third-person view by pressing ‘X’ on an Xbox controller or Square on a PlayStation controller. Unlike other modes, Photo Mode doesn’t automatically pause the game; instead, to halt at any specific frame, press ‘RS’ on an Xbox controller or ‘R3’ on a PlayStation controller. Remember that you can only access Photo Mode in Offline or Single Player mode, not when you’re in a multiplayer lobby.

Additionally, Photo Mode is only available for pausing during single-player games, whether offline or online. Once another player joins you in response to an SOS signal, the game continues without a pause option. Moreover, you can add Photo Mode to your quick access Radial Menu for instant use. You can customize this menu while within your temporary shelter (Pop-Up Camp or Base Camp), as well as through the main menu.

Photo Mode Features

Similar to Monster Hunter Rise, MH Wilds’ Photography Feature offers control over your camera’s lateral and vertical positioning, as well as its field of view (FOV). Diving into the ‘Edit Mode’, you can adjust depth of field, camera perspective, and rotation. Additionally, you have the ability to select various poses for both the Hunter and Palico characters. Moreover, you can alter the Hunter’s facial expression within the Photography Feature itself.

Please be aware that the gestures you can use in Photo Mode are those you already possess within the game itself. Additional gestures from the Downloadable Content (DLC) will only appear in Photo Mode if you’ve previously obtained them in the base game of Monster Hunter Worlds.
