Monster Hunter Wilds Breaks Records, Surpassing Cyberpunk 2077’s Player Count!

At long last, Monster Hunter Rise has been unveiled! Its beta phase surpassed Black Ops’ six-player record, and on its launch day, an extraordinary number of gamers plunged into the game. This massive influx of players outnumbered those who played Elden Ring and Cyberpunk 2077 simultaneously on Steam at their peaks.

In December 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 set a record for single-player games by having over 1 million people playing simultaneously on Steam at its launch. However, Elden Ring narrowly missed this milestone, reaching a peak of 953,426 players in March 2022.

Nevertheless, both games experienced a significant decline in popularity following the release of Monster Hunter World, which overshadowed Cyberpunk 2077 on its debut day, causing a notable drop in its player base.

Or:

After the arrival of Monster Hunter World, both games saw a decrease in their player numbers, with Monster Hunter World outperforming Cyberpunk 2077 on its first day.

Or:

Monster Hunter World’s debut caused a significant drop in the number of players for both games, as it overshadowed Cyberpunk 2077 on the first day of its release.

Monster Hunter Wilds player count over 1 million

According to SteamDB, Monster Hunter World boasts an impressive player base of approximately 1,238,138 (and growing), a number that is expected to increase significantly when we include players from Xbox and PlayStation platforms since SteamDB only monitors Steam users.

This is the eighth title to surpass one million simultaneous players on Steam, and it’s also the first Capcom game that has managed to attract more than a million players on this platform, demonstrating the impressive scale of its achievement.

Immediately upon launching on February 28th, the player count skyrocketed to 880,806 individuals. This indicates that approximately 300,000 new players have joined the game within a mere 24 hours. It’s predicted that this number will continue to increase.

Even with this number, it doesn’t surpass the record for the highest Steam player count ever, as it falls short compared to CS:GO (1,818,773), Black Myth: Wukong (2,358,580), and PUBG, which boasted more than 3 million players at its peak.

In simple terms, among all single-player games available on Steam, Black Myth is unique as it’s the only one that has simultaneously hosted more than 2 million active players at once.
