Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto from the Monster Hunter series attributes a significant portion of the popular Capcom game, Monster Hunter World’s success, to its compelling narrative.
In a recent interview, Tsujimoto – newly appointed Capcom’s Chief Product Officer – expressed his thoughts to Nikkei, a Japanese news outlet. Automaton later reported on these comments, revealing that Tsujimoto attributes the success of Monster Hunter Wilds to its increased focus on storytelling compared to previous games in the series. He also highlighted the game’s immersiveness as a significant factor, thanks to its fully voiced narrative. Additionally, he praised cross-play for attracting players and encouraging them to keep playing.
Black Ops 6 and topped weekly revenue charts across all three platforms it was distributed on.
TopMob enjoyed Monster Hunter Wilds, but found the story lacking compared to Tsujimoto. According to TopMob’s review of Monster Hunter Wilds, the story provides some background for each hunt and monster, but it doesn’t offer much beyond that. Despite Monster Hunter typically having minimal stories, the emphasis on narrative in Wilds seems to highlight a weak story when a more subtle approach might have been more effective.
The action-adventure game, Monster Hunter Rise, is currently accessible on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game’s significant first update is set to launch in the early days of next month.
