As an avid gamer with years of hunting monsters under my belt, I can’t help but feel a thrill of anticipation as I navigate through the labyrinth that is the PlayStation Store on my trusty PS5. The Monster Hunter Wilds beta is finally here, and I’m eager to get my hands on it.
As a fellow enthusiast, I’m excited to share that preloading is accessible to all participants joining the Monster Hunter Wilds beta test. But here’s the catch: if you’re a PlayStation Plus member and can’t wait to get started, you can download it right now! However, the process isn’t exactly simple.
To prepare for the beta on your PlayStation 5, you should search for it discreetly among the various versions of “Wilds” listings. Here’s a simple guide to help you locate it:
- Go to the PlayStation Store on your PS5
- Search for Monster Hunter Wilds
- On the main page select the ellipsis–or three dots–icon on the right side of the Monster Hunter Wilds wishlist option
- Select the Monster Hunter Wilds beta option
Here’s another way to put it: Instead of downloading the Monster Hunter Wilds beta directly to your PS5, you can sign into your PlayStation Network account and visit its specific webpage instead. Once you return to your console, you’ll discover that the beta has been added to your personal game library, waiting for you to download it. The file size is approximately 16GB, but it offers a substantial sneak peek of what’s coming when Monster Hunter Wilds officially launches on February 28, 2025. You’ll have the opportunity to delve into the character creation tool, participate in a Story Trial, and engage in the Doshaguma Hunt without any charges.
In this adventure, you’ll encounter some of the beasts you’ll hunt – the armored Ajarakan and the Rompopolo residing in oil-rich territories. Participants in the open beta testing phase will receive a distinctive pendant for their weapons as a token of appreciation and a Seikret mount if they decide to purchase the full game. Notably, progress made during the open beta will carry over when the game is officially released.
The upcoming open beta for Monster Hunter Wilds will allow cross-platform gameplay among PC, PS5, and Xbox players, but the non-PS5 versions will start participating a few days later.
For those who might require it, here’s a summary of the diving-in times according to your platform, and remember that the open beta ends on November 3rd, precisely at 6:59 PM Pacific Time or 9:59 PM Eastern Time, for everyone.
