Congratulations! You’ve successfully conquered Monster Hunter Wilds, vanquishing the final High-Rank boss and seeking additional challenges. However, this was just the beginning – there’s a wealth of activities waiting for you in the end game. Delve into weapon crafting, grind for Decorations, or express your unique style through fashion. Here are 15 engaging tasks to tackle after completing Monster Hunter Wilds, which will undoubtedly keep you engrossed for countless hours. Proceed with caution as spoilers lie ahead.
Arkveld Armor Sets
In this game, there are only three high-rarity armor sets, and among them, the Arkveld and Guardian Arkveld sets are two of them. It’s strongly recommended to prioritize obtaining the Arkveld set as soon as you can. This is because it offers a good number of Decoration slots (three level 3, four level 2, and five level 1 for the Beta set) along with useful skills like Weakness Exploit and Convert Element, particularly beneficial for weapons that focus on dragons. Additionally, it has the Hasten Recovery skill, which restores your health as you continue attacking a monster, though the rate of recovery may differ based on the weapon you’re using.
The Arkveld Guardian set requires additional effort to acquire and might initially appear less desirable due to fewer Decoration slots, especially compared to the Beta set. However, it compensates by providing Flayer and Weakness Exploit abilities. Flayer is beneficial for inflicting wounds on enemies, while Weakness Exploit boosts your attack’s affinity against vulnerable spots, with extra bonus damage against existing wounds. Additionally, you’ll receive the Decimator skill that restores a significant amount of health when destroying large monsters’ wounds.
Artian Weapons
You can create the initial Artian Weapon, the least rare one, even before you fully progress into the main game. Unlike high-tier Rarity 8 weapons, Artian Weapons use unique materials such as Blades, Discs, Tubes, and Devices. The state of these materials changes depending on their rarity. While many types of Artian Weapons accept the same materials, there are exceptions. For instance, a broken Blade cannot be used to craft an Artian Hammer. Furthermore, each material should match in rarity; you can’t combine a blue Disc with a purple Blade or an orange Tube.
Artian Elements and Bonuses
Additionally, it’s important to note that Artian Materials come with unique properties. They either offer an Attack Infusion which boosts the maximum attack power of a weapon, or an Affinity Infusion which enhances the weapon’s affinity or critical hit rate.
When you join items made of the same element, you’ll craft an elemental weapon that boasts high Affinity and Attack, or a blend of both. But what takes place when you merge Thunder material with Dragon or Ice? If the elements of one or more materials don’t match, only its unique bonus will be considered. For instance, merging two Thunder elemental items with one Dragon item results in a Thunder weapon. However, if all three pieces are distinct elements, a weapon without an element is produced instead. This type of weapon is excellent for dealing raw damage.
In a nutshell, it might appear unnecessary, given the steep expenses associated with enhancing Artian Weapons. However, when you have a variety of materials each offering distinct advantages, it’s not an unreasonable approach. For instance, accumulate various elemental Attack Infusion materials to craft a raw weapon capable of dealing significant damage. Yet, be mindful that your gear’s Affinity is sufficiently high. An alternative strategy could involve using three identical elements for the maximum impact on elemental damage.
Farming Artian Materials
Regardless if you’re just beginning the final phase or have been playing for several hours, farming Artian Materials can become quite tedious, especially when you aim for specific components and maximum benefits. Tempered Monsters are your best bet, although they’re not as simple as the Tempered Chatacabra (no offense intended). To acquire the rarest Artian Materials, you need to join 7-star or higher expeditions, which often involve Tempered forms of Gore Magala, Arkveld, Jin Dahaad, Rey Dau, Uth Duna, and Nu Udra.
Investigations
The best method for cultivating all these creatures is by conducting Investigations. Whenever these Toughened Beasts show up, hover over your target and store it as an Investigation. This action will provide multiple instances of the same mission, allowing you repeated attempts for the same benefits. You can also discover Investigations through Field Surveys, so remember to check that section and use your Guild Points to unlock your preferred hunt.
Target Farming
If you’re not quite prepared to fight high-difficulty Tempered Monsters yet or if there’s a specific material you need from a particular monster, Investigations are your best bet. Not only can you see if that specific material will drop as a reward, but you can also efficiently farm for it by selecting the Environment Overview and then creating a quest for the target monster. Hover over its rewards to see all potential drops. Remember, every Investigation for the same monster may yield different rewards, so always double-check before using Guild Points to create an Investigation.
Multi-Target Hunts
Regarding investigations, don’t overlook the multi-target quests, regardless of their level of difficulty. These offer a wealth of rewards, such as Decorations, Artisan Resources, and monster materials. Higher difficulty hunts not only yield more rewards but also significantly boost your Hunter Rank, providing a much larger increase than defeating a single Tempered Monster would.
Artian Weapon Upgrades
Creating your perfect Artian Weapon is just the beginning; you can also strengthen it, which increases its bonus stats, amplifies elemental damage, and even improves its sharpness. At first, it might seem challenging because you’ll require a total of 15,000 points from the rarest reinforcement material, Oricalcite, to fully upgrade an Artian Weapon. However, don’t worry, as the Smelting Foundry located in Oilwell Basin will be your ally in this process.
By giving materials to the blacksmith, you’ll be able to trade them for the required reinforcement materials. The rarer the material – such as Rubies and Gems – the more reinforcement materials you’ll receive. If you don’t have an abundance of high-level materials, this is still a valuable place to exchange various resources for reinforcement ore.
Min-Maxing Artian Upgrades
If you already possess the perfect Artian Weapon, why gather additional reinforcement materials? Here’s the reason: when you fully reinforce a weapon, bonus attributes are awarded, but they are randomly determined. This means that by accumulating more reinforcement materials, you can re-roll these bonuses to potentially improve your current weapon, optimizing it for different stats based on your preferences.
Upgrading Armor
To get the most defense out of a rare armor set, Heavy Armor Spheres are crucial. Although acquiring them from hunts can feel painstakingly slow, there’s a faster method. Visit the Smelting Foundry in Oilwell Basin again and trade your monster loot for various types of Armor Spheres. The rarer the material, the more spheres you’ll receive, so don’t forget to save those valuable drops.
Melding Master
The Wyverian Melding feature is back, enabling you to swap one set of Decorations for another. You can access it by encountering the Melding Pot Master in Suja, Peaks of Accord, located nearby your camp. You have the option to selectively exchange certain Decorations or trade in excess jewels for a mix of new ones. The Ancient Orb Sword offers Attack-enhancing Decorations, whereas the Ancient Orb Armor provides Defense-boosting Decorations. Furthermore, you can fuse specific Artian Materials to reduce some of the randomness from hunting.
Multi-Skill Decorations
In Monster Hunter Wilds, it’s not just about getting basic level 1 or 2 decorations such as Critical Eye and Divine Blessing. Instead, you’re aiming for more complex multi-skill decorations which are highly sought after. For instance, a decoration could offer three points in Critical Element but also provide one point in Slugger for a 20% increase in stun power. This combination is excellent as it boosts elemental damage on weapons while adding another skill for convenience. Of course, you wouldn’t want to overlook decorations like the Mastery Jewel, which prevents sharpness loss during critical hits – a significant advantage!
Rarity 8 Weapon Crafting
Optimal rarity Artian Weapons feature three Level 3 upgrade slots, offering exceptional personalization options. However, some high-tier weapons, such as Guiding Artorius, only have one Level 3 slot, one Level 2 slot, and one Level 1 slot. Despite this, there are advantages to choosing Rarity 8 weapons. Firstly, they boast a more potent base attack and Dragon element damage compared to an Artian Weapon. Secondly, they come with Guard Level 3, which is beneficial for minimizing stamina drain during attacks, like Arkveld’s Big Bang Attack. Although the usefulness of regular weapons may be influenced by specific combat situations, the Artian class does not render them entirely obsolete.
Fishing
How about taking a break from hunting and trying out fishing instead? Once you obtain the Fishing Rod, make your way to Kanya at the Scarlet Forest Base Camp and complete her quest by catching any fish. You’ll be rewarded with a Sushifish Scale and Honey. Completing additional side quests will provide you with new lures for catching various types of fish. Besides gathering unique materials, these items can also be used in cooking meals. Since fishing has been updated this time, it makes for an enjoyable side activity.
Layered Armor
As a gamer, I’ve often wondered what use are all these shiny armor sets in Monster Hunter Wilds if there’s no way to change their appearance? But thankfully, Layered Armor is back! You can unlock it by crafting High Rank armor sets. Once that’s done, head over to the Appearance tab, choose Equipment Appearance, and you’re free to switch out helms, chest pieces, gloves, and more without altering your current armor skills.
