What makes this confrontation particularly frustrating is that Blangonga tends to bring backups, which means you frequently find yourself engaged in battles against numerous minor opponents while struggling to damage your primary target.

The Blangonga encounter has a bit of everything and is a rude awakening if you show up unprepared.

9. Fulgar Anjanath

An Electric T-Rex, Really?

Initially, Anjanath seemed like a formidable beast in “Monster Hunter World”, but let’s just say it had a lot of bluff and not much bite.

Luckily for the two-legged threat, Fulgar Anjanath is no laughing matter in the Wilds; he packs quite a punch, like a runaway freight train.

Standing upright like a pair of legs, Fulgar Anjanath can sometimes be challenging to strike effectively with melee weapons, especially when aiming for its tail.

The ferocious attack of the beast inflicts significant harm, and it has the knack for stumbling forward across the terrain to eliminate you. Keep your Nulberries handy as Thunderblight is often a menacing force that might require their use after a couple of strikes.

8. Rathalos

Hello, Old Friend

As a seasoned hunter with years under my belt, I can confidently say that not much can catch me off guard when it comes to Rathalos variants. However, this legendary monster earns its spot on the list for being a formidable opponent and making an unexpected debut in the campaign, serving as a challenge even for the most experienced of us newbies.

Rathalos is known as the king of the skies, which is a problem for you as you don’t have wings!

This beast can unleash flames across the battlefield without endangering itself, and when it attacks from below, it packs a punch as powerful as a moving freight train.

This winged dragon possesses various attacks, which can be dodged if you’ve encountered it previously. However, being a novice, you don’t have the advantage of prior experience with this creature.

Oh, it seems Rathalos also has a venomous spike on its tail, which means you’ll need to watch out for both poison and burning attacks in this high-energy fight. Luckily, despite the game not explicitly mentioning it, you do have some countermeasures for aerial assaults at your disposal.

Rathalos always offers a thrilling battle and a firm but fair challenge.

7. Ebony Odogaron

Meet The Murder Puppy

Ebony Odogaron is one of my preferred recurring creatures, appearing in two noticeably different forms. In other words, it can be quite angry or extremely angry.

Odogaron is a relentless attacker who rarely tires and never slows down.

Its attacks pack a powerful punch for quick strikes, and it’s generally safer to remain on the ground during its various combos. The Odogaron can be challenging to confront due to its tendency to orbit its prey from a distance, making it more intimidating if you’re unfamiliar with it.

The cherry on top of it all is Odogaron’s deadly talons, as sharp as razors, capable of causing deep cuts. Hiding in place can help eliminate the debuff, but staying still may prove challenging when the relentless beast is hot on your trail.

6. Xu Wu

It’s Like A Smart Waterproof Spider

Xu Wu is one of the most unique monsters in the series, closely resembling an octopus.

Xu Wu moves with such grace that it seems as if he’s skimming over the landscape without a hitch, and his agility is truly impressive. His eight legs allow him to swiftly maneuver in any direction, which makes him a formidable adversary when encountered.

This weapon excels at targeting hunters specifically, delivering precise lethal strikes, or spinning wildly, compelling players to flee and recover health.

Xu Wu performs a swift and intimidating charge, which is quite startling when witnessed for the first time. This tentacled monster also has the ability to seize hunters, inflicting heavy damage if it consumes you. Remember to always carry Dung Pods since Xu Wu dislikes their odor intensely.

5. Ajarakan

A Wannabe Rajang

Ajarakan is a fiery brute and makes the list because it’s dangerous to stay close for long.

As I engage Ajarakan in battle, I quickly realize that this beast isn’t just another walk in the park. Unlike Odogaron, it doesn’t rely on raw aggression. Instead, it’s got a secret arsenal of physical and area-of-effect fire attacks hidden up its sleeve, making each encounter a test of my skills and reflexes.

In my opinion, it’s the swift, repeated attacks that pose the greatest challenge. They can quickly set the ground ablaze.

As a dedicated admirer, I’d say, “Ajarakan can swoop down unexpectedly, dealing damage and closing in swiftly to dispatch weaker hunters. It appears to always be readied for an attack from any angle.

This formidable creature boasts no obvious vulnerabilities and is equipped for any scenario that may arise. Preparing excessively for this encounter would be advisable, so make sure to arm yourself with every available resource.

4. Uth Duna

The Low-Rank Gatekeeper

As a dedicated player, I can’t help but notice that Uth Duna, this colossal figure, makes an early appearance when I’m working my way through the less challenging story quests.

Despite its seemingly leisurely pace, beware, for this colossal creature is one of the largest monsters in the game, and its size translates to impressive speed. It’s often observed roaming across the map at a pace that matches its enormous stature.

The slow movements are countered by some incredibly powerful strikes. If Uth Duna lands on you clumsily, you’ll certainly feel it, and it’s lethal if you’re already injured. Additionally, this colossal beast has a few stealthy attacks if you attempt to approach from an unusual angle.

Uth Duna may not appear as the strongest monster at first glance, but it severely penalizes careless movements and those who tend to take damage head-on.

3. Gore Magala

The Lord Of The Frenzy Virus

In the narrative of Monster Hunter Wilds, the Frenzy Virus is a crucial element. It wouldn’t be complete without the creator making an appearance.

Among my top three favorite beasts, Gore Magala stands out, joining Glavenus and Safi Jiiva. I’m simply overjoyed to find it in “Monster Hunter Wilds”. This swift dragon exhibits a graceful agility akin to that of a feline, bounding lightly across the battlefield.

What’s most frightening about this interaction is the Frenzy Virus, a mechanism that penalizes players who adopt a defensive strategy. In fact, there are talismans specifically designed to leverage this unusual gameplay aspect.

Gore Magala becomes terrifying when enraged, boasting a lethal assortment of both close and long-range attacks, making it a danger regardless of location. Its projectiles have a surprisingly vast explosion radius, and Gore is exceptionally accurate when aiming, so maintaining a full health bar is crucial.

2. Jin Dahaad

In the realm of Monster Hunter Wilds, it’s me who’s thrilled about the latest arrival – Jin Dahaad. And let me tell you, the fight with this beast is nothing short of an exhilarating, deadly movie scene.

The primary concern when dealing with Jin Dahaad lies in its immense dimensions. With a single misplaced touch, it can pose a significant threat. Moreover, it’s remarkably agile, adding to the challenge. Lastly, navigating environmental traps is crucial for survival, and this might be unfamiliar territory for beginners.

Jin Dahaad boasts several Area of Effect (AoE) attacks with a vast reach, making it crucial for opponents to mind their distance as they strive to get closer to him.

The monster possesses a lethal attack that instantaneously kills, and it isn’t hesitant to deploy this move numerous times during a battle. If you’ve encountered Safi Jiiva in Monster Hunter World, you’re well aware of the danger. For those who haven’t, when you notice flames, make haste and seek shelter immediately – your survival could be at stake!

Arkveld possesses a formidable collection of attacks using elements, which reach astonishing distances, making it necessary to strategize your approach. Similar to several large beasts in Monster Hunter Wilds, Arkveld is surprisingly agile given its size, and it’s an ongoing challenge to try and get closer to it.

A significant issue arises when one gets too near, as the creature known as Arkveld possesses multiple whip-like tendrils on its wings, capable of catching off guard prey in its vicinity.

Even from unexpected angles, it can catch enemies off guard, which makes Arkveld a frustrating adversary regardless of your position.

Arkveld can be described as a versatile tool akin to a Swiss Army knife, but with the added feature of wings, and possessing enough strength to unleash devastating explosions across the battlefield.
