A judge has directed a 24-year-old woman, who is also a mother, to compensate her daughter with approximately $2,000 due to an egg-throwing prank on TikTok that went viral.
Watch out, parents: Playing pranks on your children for TikTok content might not only lead to harassment charges against you, but also require you to pay a fine to your very own child.
In the year 2023, a mother residing in Helsingborg, Sweden, playfully broke an egg on top of her child’s head, participating in a popular TikTok joke craze.
In the midst of this popular trend, I often playfully mimic the act of cracking an egg in a bowl, only to find myself accidentally doing it over my child’s head instead. Sometimes, a bit of yolk ends up splattering onto our faces, adding a touch of humor to our shared baking moments.
In another development, a spectator decided to alert law enforcement about the video – and Swedish officials were far from enthused by the idea of this content going viral.
Mom convicted of harassment for TikTok egg prank
Based on information from Pubity, the authorities conducted an investigation, leading to the mother’s conviction for harassment in the year 2025.
Assistant District Attorney Cecilia Andersson contended that the mother had treated her daughter in a demeaning manner for personal gain, and that her actions were careless or imprudent.
Upon watching the video, I found myself thinking, “Such actions towards a child are completely unacceptable.” To secretly film and publicly embarrass a child in front of thousands – I strongly believe this is a deeply disrespectful act, which aligns with my personal viewpoint.
A young girl, eagerly anticipating baking an apple cake with her mother, experiences sudden distress when an egg cracks on her forehead during the process. Such carelessness was involved.”
Here’s another option:
“The little girl, all set to bake an apple cake with her mom, is overjoyed and thrilled. But then, out of nowhere, an egg slips and lands on her head! Such reckless behavior!
Meanwhile, in court, the mother argued her actions were following a popular trend that everyone else was participating in. She put forth, “It was something everyone was doing.
As a concerned onlooker, I must admit that my heart sank when the court verdict was announced. Despite her best efforts, her defense fell short and she was convicted of harassment by the Helsingborg District Court. To add insult to injury, she was also mandated to pay approximately SEK 20,000, which equates to around $2,055 USD, to her daughter. This turn of events serves as a stark reminder that actions have consequences.
