Molly Gordon and Logan Lerman-Starrer ‘Oh, Hi!’ Lands at Sony Pictures Classics

The darkly comedic love story titled “Oh, Hi!” featuring Molly Gordon and Logan Lerman has secured a place with Sony Pictures Classics.

In the January edition of the Sundance Film Festival, I had the pleasure of presenting my sophomore project, “Oh, Hi!”, penned and directed by Sophie Brooks, who was also behind “The Boy Downstairs”. During this movie, Iris (portrayed by Gordon) and Isaac (Lerman) embark on their initial romantic getaway as a couple, but things take an unexpected turn. Believing he’s merely confused, I find myself going to great lengths to demonstrate to him that our relationship is destined to be. Alongside me in this journey are Geraldine Viswanathan and John Reynolds.

Brooks expressed his immense joy about our movie landing with Sony Pictures Classics. For years, I’ve admired their films for their unique storytelling and gracefulness. I can hardly wait for the public to witness our quirky production on the big screen.

This unexpected blend of romance and comedy, brimming with youthful exuberance and humor, yet carrying an undercurrent of suspense – it’s a captivating mix that’s sure to keep you on the edge of your seat! The acting is superbly done and skillfully directed by Sophie Brooks. Sony Pictures Classics confidently declare that this film will be a hit among viewers.

In an article published for EbMaster earlier this year, Brooks discussed the genesis of the film. “Today’s dating landscape, with its variety of relationships and numerous labels and intentions, is filled with opportunities for misunderstandings,” she explained. “The increased chances of differing interpretations of conversations and situations can lead to new instances where women are labeled as ‘crazy’ and men as ‘jerks’.

In essence, we’re all individuals carrying our unique burdens, but I found the simplification of complex emotions to be intriguing and even humorous,” Brooks went on. “The concept for ‘Oh, Hi!’ stemmed from this curiosity – exploring those stereotypes, and deconstructing them. So, is Iris mentally unstable? Is Isaac a jerk? Or are they simply people who have their deepest insecurities provoked?

The agreement for the project was made through discussions among Sony Pictures Classics, WME Independent, and UTA Independent Film Group, acting as representatives for the filmmaking team. Watermark Media served as the financier of this production, in collaboration with QWGmire, AmorFortuna, and Bespoke Production Capital.
