A new trick for the Nintendo Switch has emerged, transforming it into what’s being called “the world’s slowest smartphone simulator” or “the world’s slow-paced iPhone analog.
On June 5, 2025, the Switch 2 hit the market, but that hasn’t stopped creative minds from tinkering with the original version instead.
In June, PatRyk, a skilled modder, accomplished a feat never achieved by any other user: He managed to run iOS on the Nintendo Switch.
On X’s platform, I (PatRyk) left quite an impact by sharing my recent achievement and the challenges I’ve encountered with this particular device.
Or:
In a post on X, I (PatRyk) garnered attention from others as I disclosed my latest success and the hurdles I face with this gadget.

He expressed his frustration in a post, saying, “I’ve misplaced not only my wits but also two entire days trying to set this up.” He then referred to it as “the most leisurely ‘iPhone’ in existence.
In PatRyk’s photo, you can observe that iOS is being used on Switch 1. However, as reported by the modder, this setup isn’t problem-free; it comes with a few challenges.
According to him, loading the iPhone’s operating system takes more than 20 minutes, it keeps crashing whenever you try to perform tasks, and at the moment, no applications can be opened.
Oh, what a doozy! This “iPhone” seems more like a snail-paced, enigmatic device. It takes nearly 20 minutes to get up and running, crashes every other action you attempt, and refuses to open any apps, leaving them in a state of endless timeouts and crashes. Quite the adventure, isn’t it? 😉

If you’re contemplating DIY work, you might need to be patient for a more straightforward method to develop in the future, since it took Pat approximately two days to complete the task as he described. While he didn’t go into great detail, he did share some information about his process: the device is running Arch Linux and a customized version of QEMU emulator.
It’s not the first time a Switch hack has become popular online. In fact, way back in April 2024, someone figured out how to link a Game Boy Advance as a controller for a Switch Lite, and this became quite the sensation on social media.
