Episode 8 of MobLand revealed the shocking death of Freddie (Bradley Turner), who was brutally murdered in a surprising turn of events within the gang war currently unfolding in London. In this gripping Paramount+ crime series, Freddie serves as Richie Stevenson’s (Geoff Bell) trusted right-hand man. Due to a hidden truth, he entered into a temporary alliance with Harry Da Souza (Tom Hardy). As it turns out, Harry is privy to the fact that Richie’s wife, Vron (Annie Cooper), was engaged in an affair with Freddie, and he exploits this knowledge to exert pressure on Freddie for information about the Stevensons.
As Harry, the reliable intermediary for the Harrigans, he’s been going all out to safeguard the influential crime family. He’s been negotiating with questionable characters, uncovering the truth behind Tommy Stevenson’s disappearance (an incident that ignited the conflict), and possibly maneuvering between both parties in the gang war.
In the eighth episode of “MobLand,” events shift dramatically when Harry oversteps boundaries in an effort to persuade Freddie to join him. He presses Freddie for details about Richie’s Fentanyl operation, hoping this information can benefit his boss, Conrad Harrigan (portrayed by Pierce Brosnan), during a forthcoming deal with the Mexicans.
As Freddie attempts to intimidate Harry by brandishing a gun, Harry responds by acting as if he and Kevin Harrigan were heading to take control of the Harrigans, inviting Freddie to join their new leadership. This approach eventually causes Freddie to reveal business details and agree to Harry’s terms, with Richie’s trusted associate relenting.
It seems like Harry’s remarks suggest a possible plan by him and Kevin to potentially remove Conrad and his spouse, Maeve. However, it might also be a strategic move on Harry’s part to force Freddie into surrendering information.
Nevertheless, the alliance doesn’t persist for long following Freddie’s unscripted disclosure to Harry about a traitor within the Harrigan group. Yet, MobLand fails to expose the mole’s identity. Instead, it portrays Harry pushing Freddie off a rooftop, resulting in his immediate demise.
Despite the traitor still being unidentified, Harry’s hasty decision to eliminate Freddie immediately seems to indicate that he too may be aware of the mole’s identity. It’s also possible that he is the actual traitor, working to undermine the Harrigans from within.
In the series “MobLand,” the central conflict revolves around the mounting hostility between the Harrigans and the Stevensons. The character Tom Hardy portrays Harry de Souza, who plays a significant role as the Harrigan family’s troubleshooter. For more details about the intricate Harrigan family lineage, explore “MobLand.
This captivating show features an outstanding ensemble headed by Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, Tom Hardy, Lara Pulver, Joanne Froggatt, Paddy Considine, Geoff Bell, Anson Boon, and Mandeep Dhillon.
In this version, I’ve tried to use simpler language and a more conversational tone while maintaining the original meaning.
Is Harry the Traitor in MobLand? Here’s How It Changes Everything
In the eighth episode of “MobLand,” it’s striking that Harry da Souza took such a daring step as killing Freddie in daylight. This act might hint at a more significant motive, one that could potentially foreshadow his future betrayal of the Harrigans.
In the most recent episode, Harry directly informs Conrad that his role entails anticipating future events and potential issues. Although this can be attributed to being a go-between, it might suggest that Harry is strategizing in the intense gang war, implying he’s already one step ahead of the Harrigans.
In summary, it seems that Harry’s partnership with Kat McCallister in “MobLand” Episode 7 might be key to understanding his actions. It has been established that Harry now owes Kat two favors, which could potentially lead to the removal of Conrad, Maeve, and even Kevin. This elimination would supposedly bring a permanent end to the Harrigan family affairs.
From my perspective, it’s a double advantage for Harry. He gets to team up with a strategic and influential underworld figure, which could be a game-changer. But more importantly, this new alliance might provide him with the time and resources to rekindle his relationships with his wife and daughter. For too long, his job with the Harrigans has kept them apart, and I hope this change brings them closer again.
