As a long-time fan of MLB The Show, I can say that the latest news about MLB The Show 25 has me feeling like a kid at Christmas. With a focus on addressing past criticisms and delivering a “fan-appreciation” version of the series, San Diego Studios is clearly listening to its audience. After years of playing Road to the Show and Diamond Dynasty, I’m excited to see improvements in both modes.
The addition of legends like Nomar Garciaparra, Roger Clemens, Alex Rodriguez, Manny Ramirez, and even the elusive Barry Bonds, if it happens, would make my gaming experience even more enjoyable. I can only hope that San Diego Studios delivers on their promise to bring innovation back into the game, as a lack of it has been a sore spot for me in recent years.
On a lighter note, I’ll be ready to swing for the fences when MLB The Show 25 drops next year! Let’s hope that this time around, the developers hit a home run and knock it out of the park!
San Diego Studios built anticipation ahead of MLB The Show 25’s official launch in March, suggesting a thrilling roster of fresh legend characters.
In the latest edition of MLB The Show, version 24, there were over 190 legendary players showcased, including Andy Petite, Adrian Beltre, Johan Santana, and numerous other significant African American athletes. This is part of a continuous collaboration with the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.
Although the impressive lineup of fresh legends was noted, our review pointed out that a “lack of novelty” was one of the factors hindering the game from reaching the same heights as other series installments. The Diamond Dynasty mode faced criticism due to its use of Sets and Seasons structure, while Road to the Show’s minor advancements fell short of being impressively innovative.
It’s good news for gamers as San Diego Studio has announced that the contentious Sets and Seasons feature will not be part of MLB The Show 25. This means players can now breathe easy knowing they won’t have to fear losing their beloved Diamond Dynasty cards at the beginning of a new season anymore.
As for Road to the Show, the development team also has good news for fans.
MLB The Show 25 devs promise “fan-appreciation” version of the series
According to Forbes’ Brian Mazique, he’s been in touch with insiders who have shared that San Diego Studio acknowledges the criticisms leveled against MLB The Show 25.
[SDS] understood the message clearly, and so [they] will develop MLB The Show 25 with a focus on making it a fan-friendly edition of the game series.
As a devoted gamer, I’ve noticed that support for Road to the Show has waned somewhat compared to other game modes in recent years. However, Mazique promises an upgrade to this pre-major league experience, along with other exciting enhancements.
Based on my years of following baseball and analyzing its history, I believe that Nomar Garciaparra and Roger Clemens are strong candidates for inclusion in the Hall of Fame. However, as we all know in this game, things can always change unexpectedly. Alex Rodriguez and Manny Ramirez have also been discussed as potential inductees, but their cases remain uncertain due to past controversies that may impact their chances. It’s an exciting time for baseball fans as we eagerly await the final decisions regarding these talented players.
Fans continue to list Barry Bonds high on their wishlists as a legendary figure they’d love to see inducted, but it seems this is just speculative talk ahead of the announcement for the upcoming title.
It remains uncertain about San Diego Studio’s plans until we get closer to the alleged release date of the next game, which is tentatively set for late March 2025.
