MLB The Show 25 Adds Baseball Legends Ted Williams, James “Cool Papa” Bell, And More

Each year, it’s customary for MLB The Show to incorporate baseball greats into the game, and that trend continues with MLB The Show 25. Sony and San Diego Studio have announced some of the most renowned figures set to join MLB The Show 25, including one of the top hitters in history – Ted Williams.

In past versions of MLB The Show, Williams has made an appearance, but this time around marks his comeback following a lengthy absence. Accompanying him will be more than 200 legends, with familiar faces like Babe Ruth, Jackie Robinson, Satchel Paige, Ken Griffey Jr., and Derek Jeter making a return. Newcomers to the roster include Roger Clemens and Manny Ramirez, as well as Negro Leagues greats Wilber “Bullet Joe” Rogan and James “Cool Papa” Bell. The video trailer below offers a quick glimpse of these stars in action.

In the teaser, it looks like I’ll be squaring off against some heavy-hitters – Jose Bautista, Jason Kipnis, Lance Berkman, Bobby Abreu, Gil Hodges, Jason Varitek, Darren O’Day, Don Baylor, Bobby Grich, Jim Kaat, Ted Simmons, Preston Wilson, Reggie Sanders, and a legend like Hank Greenberg. That’s quite the lineup!

MLB The Show 25 carries on its exploration of history with the third installment of The Negro Leagues season, focusing on a time when African-American baseball players were excluded from Major League Baseball. This era produced some remarkable talent, and the season mode will integrate these Negro Leagues legends into gameplay, using historical footage and enlightening narratives provided by Bob Kendrick, president of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. At launch, all players from the first two seasons of The Negro Leagues will be accessible.

Unfortunately for PS4 and Xbox One gamers, MLB The Show 25 won’t be available on their platforms this year. However, it’s coming to Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 on March 18. Those who buy the Digital Deluxe Edition will get early access to the game starting March 14.
