Mission: Impossible Spinoff Featuring Captain Bledsoe and US Ohio Crew

Warning: Minor spoilers for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning are in play.

As a movie enthusiast, I wholeheartedly believe that “Mission: Impossible 8” serves as a fitting finale to Ethan Hunt’s IMF journey. This blockbuster spectacle, slated for release in 2025, certainly has a lot to discuss, with Tom Cruise delivering a grand farewell to the franchise following another successful run at the box office during its final weekend in May 2025.

However, the spotlight has been somewhat shared by the esteemed ensemble of secondary characters who have resonated greatly with the audience. I find myself in agreement with the online consensus that the character of Captain Jack Bledsoe from the USS Ohio deserves a spinoff of his own.

Tramell Tillman’s Captain Jack Bledsoe And His Crew Need A Mission: Impossible Spinoff

In my review of “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,” I pointed out that Ethan Hunt’s underwater scenes were particularly captivating, even causing the rest of the Mission team to compare it to a horror movie. However, before the main action sets in, there’s a notable period where Captain Bledsoe (Tramell Tillman) gets a chance to stand out. In this brief time, Tillman and his crew, including Katy O’Brien from “The Mandalorian” as Kodiak, successfully win over the audience’s affection, which is quite an achievement given the size of the cast.

I believe this group is worthy of having their own spin-off series because you really need to hear the hilarious line, which was delivered by Mr. Tillman, at the end of that video clip.

It seems like we’re all in agreement here, regardless of whether you’re holding off on using your Paramount+ subscription to watch the finale of Mission: Impossible. Let’s then proceed to discuss the plot for the spinoff of The Final Reckoning, as I believe that directors Christopher McQuarrie and Erik Jendresen have skillfully set up an intriguing premise.

The USS Ohio’s Mission To Hunt A Russian Sub Would Make For A Perfect Real Time Thriller

Prior to Ethan Hunt’s arrival on the USS Ohio, the ship was involved in a pursuit of an notoriously elusive submarine as part of a broader strategy. With global affairs being orchestrated by The Entity, the distinction between peace and conflict had become hazy, but Ethan Hunt’s actions served to potentially escalate the situation further.

Although that wasn’t Captain Jack Bledsoe’s original plan, it doesn’t rule out an exciting spin-off tale. Imagine a thrilling “Mission: Impossible”-esque subplot where Captain Bledsoe and his team engage in a heart-pounding game of cat-and-mouse. Such a high-stakes adventure could unfold in real-time, offering viewers an exhilarating journey as the USS Ohio navigates through dangerous waters.

In the movie “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,” Ethan’s visit serves as a pivotal moment within the storyline. Scenes before and after this point focus on life aboard the submarine. This implies that a significant portion of the plot’s tension arises from following The Entity’s mole, who aimed to assassinate Tom Cruise’s character, and determining whether any other crew members were under its control.

It seems that the frequent appearances of clips from the movie “Crimson Tide” online have sparked an idea in me: a spin-off series focused on Captain Bledsoe, Kodiak, Pills, and the rest of their team from “Mission: Impossible” could be highly entertaining. However, given the conclusive nature of “The Final Reckoning,” it might appear as if I’m stirring up trouble by suggesting this.

I encourage you to either check out or re-watch the eighth installment of “Mission: Impossible”, specifically the USS Ohio scenes, and feel free to correct me if my thoughts are off base. If you happen to disagree with me, you’ll have a ready response at your disposal for when we discuss this again in the future.
