‘Mission: Impossible’ Exhibition Coming to Museum of Moving Image This Spring (EXCLUSIVE)

As a die-hard cinema enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that starting April 18th, I’ll be immersed in a grand celebration of the “Mission: Impossible” franchise at the Museum of the Moving Image (MoMI)! This exhibition will shine a spotlight on Tom Cruise’s unparalleled dedication to real-life stunts, like hanging off the Burj Khalifa or clinging onto planes, trains, and automobiles. It delves into how this series masterfully integrates technical brilliance with storytelling, character development, and acting. The exhibition kicks off just before the Memorial Day Weekend release of “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,” the eighth film in the series. Can’t wait to be part of it!

Specific areas within the exhibition titled “Mission: Impossible – Story and Spectacle” will highlight each movie in the series, emphasizing its pivotal action scene or stunt, accompanied by exclusive behind-the-scenes content that provides a glimpse into the planning and filming of these heart-stopping stunts. This content will be supported by relevant production materials. Paramount Pictures is responsible for creating these films.

Barbara Miller, deputy director of curatorial affairs, expressed that for nearly three decades, ‘Mission: Impossible’ movies have captivated viewers with their nail-biting narratives and extraordinary practical stunts. Mission to the Movies Institute (MoMI) is eager to collaborate with Paramount Pictures on this significant exhibition. Our aim is to delve into the series’ exceptional milestones and offer a lively, informative experience for both fans and guests.”

Or more casually:

“Barbara Miller, deputy director of MoMI’s curatorial affairs, shared that Mission: Impossible films have kept us on the edge of our seats with their gripping tales and mind-blowing stunts for almost 30 years. We can’t wait to join forces with Paramount Pictures for this major exhibition, where we aim to celebrate the series’ unique triumphs and provide a fun, enlightening experience for fans and visitors alike.

Visitors can enjoy “Mission: Impossible – Story and Spectacle” as part of their regular museum entry fee, while it’s on display.

The exhibition and its accompanying activities receive funding from a Market New York grant provided by Empire State Development and I LOVE NY, the tourism division of New York State.

Nestled in the heart of Astoria, MoMi showcases over 130,000 artifacts, frequently updating its displays and screenings for an engaging experience.
