In simpler terms, Bad Ridge Games, the developers behind Mirthwood, shared their latest update on their medieval fantasy RPG. This blog post contains recent updates and future plans for the game. This update comes after they introduced their significant Marriage Update, enabling players to propose marriage to any in-game characters they find romantic, and once accepted, their spouse will relocate to a farm following a simple wedding ceremony.
The creator of the game shared information about the ongoing work and future plans for Mirthwood, such as potentially releasing this medieval fantasy RPG on an additional platform. At this point, specifics are still scarce.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share some exciting updates directly from Bad Ridge Games, the creators behind Mirthwood. In their latest Developer Update post, they’ve unveiled some tantalizing tidbits about what we can expect in the future for our beloved medieval fantasy RPG.
Remember the Marriage Update that graced our PC screens back in March 2025? Well, this time around, the developer is simply “checking in and sharing” about their current projects. Essentially, they’re letting us know what they’ve been up to behind the scenes.
Ever since the last Marriage update, our primary goal is to integrate cooperative gameplay into Mirthwood. The progress is looking great! As we approach the final stages, we’ll reveal more specifics; however, be prepared to enjoy both remote and local multiplayer experiences through Steam Remote Play, with each player managing their own inventory and skills independently.
They’ve been focusing on collaborative features, but they’ve also shared that they plan to release their medieval fantasy RPG on another platform, specifically the Nintendo Switch. Excitingly, they will be working with a partner to accomplish this port, but the developer clarified that updating the Unity version for the project is unexpectedly consuming some of the development time allocated for other tasks in their roadmap.
Bad Ridge Games has assured players that they’ll keep them updated about the potential release of the game on the Nintendo Switch console, focusing on multiplayer features, and continued work on extra content such as characters, instruments, and something more substantial. It remains undetermined whether the Mirthwood port will be compatible with the original Switch, the upcoming Switch 2, or just the Switch 2; however, the developer will disclose further information on the Switch version of the game as development progresses.
