Ming-Na Wen Reveals Shocking News About Fennec Shand’s Future in Star Wars!

Fennec Shand sadly won’t be reuniting with leads in their big-screen debut.

At the red carpet event for “Karate Kid: Legends”, Ming-Na Wen discussed with host Liam Crowley about potential future appearances of her beloved “Star Wars” character, Fennec Shand, and hinted at when fans might catch up with her again in the series. When asked about her role in the upcoming “The Mandalorian & Grogu” film, Wen expressed her wish to reprise her character, saying, “I’d love to be a part of it, if possible.” She also hinted at the possibility of Fennec Shand’s return within the Star Wars universe, expressing her hope that fans will see more of her character in the future, as she admitted, “I miss her too, so I hope we get to see Fennec again someday.

As a die-hard Star Wars fan, I was thrilled when the intriguing character, Fennec Shand, made her debut in the fifth episode of “The Mandalorian.” Later, thanks to Boba Fett’s involvement, this seemingly temporary character was brought back to life. In “The Book of Boba Fett,” I had the fortune of sharing screen time with Temuera Morrison. Interestingly, my connection to season 1 director Deborah Chow played a significant role in this. As we chatted, she mentioned that she would suggest me to Jon and Dave, the creators. And true enough, they took notice and offered me the role without an audition.

Fennec Shand’s survival in season 2 was also intriguingly linked to my past with showrunner Dave Filoni. We discovered that we had attended the same high school, which apparently convinced him to give more focus to my character. This is just one of the many fascinating behind-the-scenes stories that make the Star Wars universe so captivating.

Ming-Na Wen Is Still Prominent In Other Pop Culture Franchises

As a dedicated Star Wars aficionado, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the next chapter in the saga, especially with the return of Fennec Shand, voiced by the multi-talented actress, Wen. Though her backstory remains to be fully unfolded, she graced our screens in several episodes of The Bad Batch, set at the dawn of the Galactic Empire’s reign.

Wen is an exceptional actress who has accomplished a Disney trifecta, lending her voice not only to various animated media but also making a cameo in the live-action Mulan and playing Melinda May on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Joining Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin, confirmed cast members for The Mandalorian & Grogu include Sigourney Weaver and Jeremy Allen White, who will voice the adult version of Jabba the Hutt’s son Rotta. A teaser for the series has been unveiled, with Lucasfilm also announcing that Shawn Levy, director of Deadpool and Wolverine, will be at the helm for a new film titled Star Wars: Starfighter.

Apart from acting in “Karate Kid: Legends”, Wen’s recent projects also feature “Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft”. Critics universally praised Disney’s latest “Star Wars” production, “Tales of the Underworld”.

The Mandalorian & Grogu releases in theaters on May 22, 2026.
