A freshly established gaming studio, Onibi Studio, comprising veterans from renowned games like World of Warcraft, Baldur’s Gate 3, Fortnite, and League of Legends, has unveiled its debut project. Titled Tomo: Endless Sea, this game is an action-RPG immersed in anime aesthetics, offering players the opportunity to interact with enigmatic creatures named Tomo, create diverse devices, and traverse a dynamically generated oceanic realm called Endless Blue.
In conjunction with its reveal, Onibi Studio unveiled a charming trailer for Tomo: Endless Blue, which surprisingly takes a grim turn at the end. The video depicts two characters sailing towards an island on a whale-like vessel that appears to be the island itself. Upon arrival, they encounter their first Tomo and embark on an underwater journey, eventually reaching the shore and commencing their adventure in this voxel-based island. The entire trailer is accompanied by an original tune penned by Cécile Corbel (famous for Arrietty’s music) and performed by Ai Higuchi from Attack on Titan. To discover what unfolds subsequently, you can watch it yourself:
While Tomo: Endless Sea shares similarities with a blend of Minecraft and Pokemon, the developers at Onibi Studio focus on what makes their game unique. For instance, blocks in Tomo have physics properties, allowing players to construct diverse vehicles and devices, such as boats, cranes, or airships, all built piece by piece using creativity as the limit. The game also promises other features like arenas, ancient ruins, and lively, bustling worlds that appear genuinely alive.
On Tomo’s Steam page, Onibi Studio highlights, “The blocks possess physics properties, which lets you build your own machines from scratch, whether it’s a boat, crane, or airship. Your imagination is the only limit.” Moreover, the game will feature various aspects like arenas, ancient ruins, and vibrant, thriving worlds that seem alive.
In an effort to keep each location distinct, Onibi Studio has mentioned that villages, their architecture, culture, stories, quests, dialogues, and inhabitants are all dynamically generated, ensuring no two locations share the same characteristics.
In the game developed by Onibi Studio, as you explore the vast and endless ocean, you’ll come across islands that were once parts of various civilizations. Each island is unique, offering a glimpse into different cultures through its vibrant settlements inhabited by diverse characters known as Tomo. As you delve deeper into the story of each procedurally generated island, you might stumble upon hidden secrets buried in the shadows of this infinite world. The game’s trailer provides a sneak peek into one of these stories, giving us a glimpse of life within this endless ocean.
Hey there, fellow gamers! I’ve just spotted “Tomo: Endless Blue” popping up on my Steam wishlist! It’s looking amazing, but as of now, we don’t have a set release date yet. Here are some sneak peeks into the gameplay that’s got me pretty excited!
