Minecraft Adding Live Event And DLC Tied To Movie, Complete With Jack Black

As the anticipated Minecraft Movie hits theaters on April 4th, it’s no wonder that the game itself is brimming with new content tied to the movie launch. Expect to find downloadable film-related content, a live event, and even a free skins pack allowing you to emulate the characters from the movie!

At this live event, you’ll be whisked away into a unique Minecraft world, specifically the town of Midport Village, where you can interact with characters from the movie and engage in missions. You’ll collect special rewards for the game by doing so. Jack Black, who plays Steve in the film, provides voiceover during the event. You’ll work alongside characters portrayed by Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, and Sebastian Hansen to tackle a sequence of mini-games. This mode also offers multiplayer functionality, meaning you won’t have to confront the challenges on your own. If you successfully complete all five games within this mode, you’ll be rewarded with an exclusive item: the Yearn cape.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m super excited to share that the much-anticipated event, unveiled at Minecraft Live, is set to kick off on March 25, 3 PM Pacific Time (or 6 PM Eastern Time for those like me who live in the east). The fun continues until April 7, both days and times!

Apart from the real-time event on March 25th, you’ll also find numerous free downloadable content within the game. Among these are character skins inspired by the film’s heroes, including Jack Black’s portrayal of Steve and characters played by Momoa, Myers, Brooks, and Hansen. You can even don the iconic pink jacket with fringe that Jason Momoa wears in the movie trailers, though it will be a pixelated version due to the nature of Minecraft.

To wrap it up, there’s a free expansion for the film’s universe up for grabs if you’re eager to delve deeper. This extra content, similar to the skins, is available in the Marketplace. It offers experiences such as elytra races, surviving the night challenges, and infiltrating a woodland mansion stealthily. You can enjoy this expansion on your own or with friends.

On April 4th, the real-life adaptation of Minecraft, titled “A Minecraft Movie,” will premiere in cinemas. Meanwhile, Netflix unveiled plans for an animated Minecraft series last year, but as of now, a release date for this show has not been set.
