MindsEye players are already demanding refund a day after release

The recently released action-adventure shooter game, MindsEye, created by ex-developer of GTA (Grand Theft Auto), Leslie Benzies, has faced a barrage of criticism post-launch due to numerous bugs and problems. Already, players are asking for their money back.

Before its official release, there’s been quite a lot of doubt about MindsEye due to various reasons. Although the initial teaser in 2022 sparked some excitement and considering the talent at Build a Rocket Boy studio, early testers have labeled it as “disorganized.

As a diehard fan, I found myself drawn into the controversy surrounding Benzies’ accusations towards players who allegedly received payment to critique the game. Despite these allegations, the developers courageously unveiled their post-launch plans for multiplayer, which only heightened my anticipation. With all this information swirling around me, I couldn’t help but keep a keen eye on the futuristic sandbox as it finally launched on June 10.

Instead of silencing the skeptics, I found myself grappling with a swarm of significant bugs and sluggish performance upon diving into MindsEye. Alas, some enthusiasts have already voiced their discontent, requesting their hard-earned money back.

Sony already offering refunds for MindsEye

Immediately upon its release, I found myself inundated by a deluge of posts on social media, showcasing a mix of humorous and heart-stopping glitches that fellow gamers were experiencing.

Among the unsettling aspects was a character design featuring melted faces, causing an immediate resonance for fans who recalled the glitch-filled release of Assassin’s Creed Unity.

Or:

One particularly jarring element was characters with melting facial appearances, evoking memories among fans of Assassin’s Creed Unity’s problematic debut due to bugs.

Besides this problem, there are other significant concerns about MindsEye, given its label as a “technical catastrophe.” On consoles, it’s restricted to running at 30 frames per second, while players across all platforms have been encountering frequent crashes and substantial drops in performance.

Hey there fellow gaming enthusiasts! I’ve been playing MindsEye, but let me warn you – this game is currently a technical nightmare.

Here are some reasons why:
1. It’s locked to 30FPS across all consoles and suffers from frequent stuttering.
2. The PC version, powered by Unreal Engine 5, can be quite messy in terms of performance.
3. The game is riddled with bugs, making it a bit of a challenge to play smoothly.
4. I’ve noticed many people encountering crash issues on both PC and console versions.

So, my advice? Hold off on playing MindsEye for now until these technical hiccups are sorted out. Stay tuned for updates!

Despite developers assuring they’re addressing performance issues, some gamers are dissatisfied, having asked for refunds within just a day after purchase.

After 22 minutes of play, the game was refunded due to poor performance issues such as frame rate drops and screen tearing. Additionally, NPCs appearing randomly from the sky added to the frustration. One Reddit user commented that it’s hard to justify a £55 price tag for such a poorly executed product. They plan to return when the game is fixed, but at this point, it’s a mess.

Another individual on X commented about a game they returned, saying it was disappointing. They felt not only had the marketing efforts let them down, but the entire gaming experience fell short as well.

Sony has been providing trouble-free refunds, similar to how they handled the release of Cyberpunk 2077, one of the most infamously buggy launches in history. Reddit user ‘MasterOfMoogles1995’ posted their conversation with PlayStation Support, where the representative mentioned that the “case is being looked into” concerning MindEye.

Playstation support have refunded the game with zero issues and said they’re “aware of this games optimisation and are investigating the situation”, the only other game they’ve EVER said this for was cyberpunk 2077,which was delisted for 6 months…

On other platforms, unfortunately, users haven’t experienced the same luck regarding refunds. For instance, an Xbox player was not granted a refund despite having played for fewer than an hour.

I’m truly disappointed as a fan who pre-ordered MindsEyeGame, but let me caution others about diving in right away. My personal experience has been a frustrating one filled with stuttering gameplay and blurry visuals. It lacks the soul that makes a game truly captivating.

Multiple games have successfully recovered from challenging debuts, such as Cyberpunk 2077, Fallout 76, and No Man’s Sky. While it’s premature to rule out MindsEye entirely, it’s clear that the developers face a significant challenge ahead.
