2025’s most critically panned game to date, the action-adventure title MindsEye, debuted on June 10th. Despite receiving unfavorable reviews, the developer remains dedicated to enhancing the gaming experience for players.
By June 15th, Build a Rocket Boy’s first release has garnered a Metacritic score of 43, currently holding the dubious distinction as the lowest-rated game on the platform among those reviewed by critics this year. Launched on February 6th, Ambulance Life: A Paramedic Simulator previously held that unwanted title with a critic score of 44.
Directed by former Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies, reception to MindsEye on other platforms hasn’t fared much better. On Valve’s Steam, the cinematic third-person shooter currently has a “Mostly Negative” overall user score from over 1k reviews.
Although opinions differ, common grievances pointed towards problems with the game’s performance, technical glitches, monotonous gameplay, and awkward battle mechanics.
24 hours after its launch, players began asking for refunds and some went as far as accusing the game of deceiving Steam users, suggesting it was a fraudulent activity.
Although the console data is not easily accessible, the statistics from SteamDB don’t present a particularly favorable image either. On its launch on June 10, MindsEye reached a maximum player count of 3,302, which dropped to a 24-hour peak of 517 just five days later.

Build a Rocket Boy promises “frequent” updates
Even though there are issues with MindsEye, it’s important to note that Build a Rocket Boy is actively working on updates to fix the feedback. According to their official Discord channel, several patches and quick fixes have already been released, with more on the way.
The studio expressed deep regret that not all players could fully appreciate the game as planned. Their main focus is on enhancing performance and ensuring stability to ensure a top-notch gaming experience for everyone, regardless of their device.
Our dedication lies in making every player enjoy their time with us. We promise regular and open communication about changes, and we strive to address all your thoughts and suggestions.
