MindsEye Actor Reacts To The Game’s Troubled Launch

Earlier this month, MindsEye was launched, however, it didn’t start off smoothly as players faced various problems, glitches, and other complications. Alex Hernandez, the actor portraying main character Jake Diaz, has since weighed in on the game’s rocky debut, sharing his thoughts on potential causes.

According to Hernandez, it appears that the developers behind Build a Rocket Boy chose to debut MindsEye, intending to tackle and rectify any problems that may arise post-launch.

He stated, “The quality assurance isn’t the issue. I’ve interacted with QA testers who appear capable in their roles. However, for some reason, the company opted to release a product with these problems and then addressed them afterwards… it seems we weren’t the only game that followed this approach.

Hernandez pointed out that, similar to other games, Cyberpunk 2077 initially came out with issues but has since been refined through regular updates.

Hernandez expressed his disapproval towards developers who sell games at full price with issues upon release, only to later address and rectify those problems. In simpler terms, he doesn’t support the practice of releasing incomplete or flawed games for a full price tag.

He expressed his dislike for the model, stating, “I’m not an entrepreneur, I don’t understand the logic behind that choice. However, speaking from a customer’s point of view, I believe it could potentially tarnish your reputation more than help it, to launch something that appears incomplete, while still charging full price.

Moreover, Hernandez suggested that developers should opt for an early-adoption approach, one in which developers openly communicate with players about potential problems from the outset, allowing fans to fully understand what they’re committing to.

Prior to the launch of MindsEye, two top-level officials departed from its development team. Meanwhile, it has been reported that Build a Rocket Boy reduced its workforce after the game’s debut. Notably,

Build a Rocket Boy is led by Leslie Benzies, an experienced veteran from Rockstar Games. In TopMob’s MindsEye review, the game was given a score of 3/10. According to reviewer Richard Wakeling, “Breathtaking graphics can’t make up for a lack of depth, whether it’s due to its meaningless world, monotonous battles, or any other glaring flaws. If you’re seeking quality, direct your mind’s eye towards something else.
