As a film critic, I had the pleasure of chatting with Millie Bobby Brown at the recent premiere of “The Electric State.” In our conversation, she shared an intriguing tidbit about her viewing habits for “Stranger Things.” Unlike many fans who eagerly watch new episodes as soon as they drop on Netflix, Millie has been kept in the dark. For a decade, she’s missed the premiere of each season, including the upcoming fifth and final one. She expressed her belief that this tradition might not change for the last season.
In other words, she said, “I see it when it comes out just like everyone else does.”
As of now, there’s no confirmed air date for Season 5, but back in January, the show’s creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, mentioned that post-production was progressing faster than expected.
In the movie “Electric State,” by directors Joe and Anthony Russo, Brown portrays a teenage girl who’s lost her family and embarks on a journey across the American West alongside a robot, encountering a wandering man played by Chris Pratt as they search for her younger brother (Woody Norman). The ensemble cast includes Ke Huy Quan, Stanley Tucci, Woody Harrelson, Jason Alexander, Ann Russo, Greg Cromer, Alan Tudyk, Holly Hunter, Tuc Watkins, another Jason Alexander, Colman Domingo, Anthony Mackie, Hank Azaria, Jenny Slate, and Brian Cox.
Working alongside Chris Pratt was a hoot for me, as he’s got this infectious silliness that I can’t help but match. You see, we’re both big kids at heart, and our playful spirits clicked instantly. It was like two children giggling in a candy store, saying “Let’s play!” all the time. And to top it off, Chris is such a doting ‘dad’, making our camaraderie even more natural.
Pratt explained, “It became incredibly playful. We enjoyed the liberty to be as playful as we desired. We were engaged in something that was both enjoyable and intense. I believe she handles the serious aspects quite well. However, it was the humorous, lighter moments that we mostly inhabited, and they were truly remarkable.
“The Electric State” premieres March 14.
