Mike Tyson claims he almost died before Jake Paul bout & chose to fight anyways

As a seasoned gamer with a deep appreciation for sports and human resilience, I can’t help but admire Mike Tyson’s indomitable spirit. The fight against Jake Paul was more than just a boxing match; it was a testament to human willpower and determination.

In June 2024, Mike Tyson asserted that he came extremely close to death due to his match against Jake Paul being postponed. The delay necessitated an immense amount of training for him to regain his physical condition following the significant setback.

Regardless of the outcome, he remained hopeful about the proceedings, expressing no remorse and expressing joy at the opportunity to compete once more.

This is one of those situations when you lost but still won. I’m grateful for last night. No regrets to get in ring one last time.

I almost died in June. Had 8 blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won.

In June, Tyson came extremely close to losing his life. He needed a total of eight blood transfusions due to heavy blood loss, which amounted to about half his total blood volume. As a result, he also shed approximately 25 pounds while hospitalized. Determined to recover and continue living, he battled to regain his health so that he could once again fight.

Watching my kids witness me go head-to-head for eight rounds with a skilled opponent younger than me, all while filling up the Dallas Cowboys stadium, is a unique and extraordinary encounter that no one should expect or demand.

Jake Paul replied in kind, thanking Mike for the experience.

Love you Mike. It was an honor. You’re an inspiration to us all.

In a Netflix documentary series before the fight, Tyson shared about an injury he sustained: a stomach ulcer that triggered severe internal bleeding, keeping him in bed for an extended period, resulting in a weight loss of approximately 25 pounds.

Disregarding medical advice to rest and proceeding cautiously, he resumed training vigorously for the upcoming fight to ensure peak form. However, his prime condition wasn’t sufficient to defeat Jake Paul, as his aggressive style in the ring waned noticeably after merely the initial two rounds.

Given that the fight had been repeatedly postponed, there wasn’t a better moment than the present for the matchup. It appears they chose an opportune time and attracted the perfect audience, as Netflix’s live-streaming servers were overwhelmed due to a surge of people attempting to watch the event.

I was genuinely disappointed when the battle I was eagerly anticipating had to be postponed due to the technical hiccups with Netflix’s server. To make matters worse, several of us who were excited to watch it live couldn’t manage to do so.
