Mike Coulter Is Open To Playing Luke Cage Again In The MCU

As a fan who has been captivated by the gritty and powerful world of Luke Cage, played brilliantly by Mike Colter, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation tinged with nostalgia. Colter’s portrayal of the bulletproof hero was a beacon of strength in the dark corners of Hell’s Kitchen, and his departure from the MCU felt like a premature goodbye.

2015 saw Mike Colter debut as Luke Cage in a secondary part of Jessica Jones Season 1 within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He later headlined his own Netflix show in 2016, but the Luke Cage series concluded after just two seasons. Since then, his portrayal of the character has been limited to an appearance in Iron Fist Season 2 in 2018. With Daredevil: Born Again opening doors for the revival of the old Marvel Netflix series on Disney+, Colter has expressed interest in reprising his role.

Colter shared with ComicBook.com his eagerness to delve into the story, should they discover a means or opportunity to do so. He also expressed joy over Charlie Cox and others receiving a reboot, but admitted he has no information regarding a potential Luke Cage reboot; he’s not keeping any secrets about it.

Additionally, Colter expressed his opinions on the initial concept that aimed to transform “Born Again” into a reboot of the Daredevil television series instead of a sequel to previous events.

As a gamer, if someone asked me about the choice to officially incorporate the old Netflix Marvel shows into the MCU, I’d say something like this: “I believe it’s a smart decision. They shouldn’t have attempted to reboot it in the first place. Honestly, I’m not sure what that was all about. It feels like they were trying to fix something that wasn’t broken.”

After wrapping up Luke Cage, Colter has been featured in the TV show “Evil” on CBS and Paramount+. This series is set to conclude its run towards the end of this month.
